Default Troma Team's Father's Day...delayed again?

Originally scheduled for June 12th, then pushed back to June 26th....now amazon has it for July 31. Any news on this? As in why?

Yeah, no surprise really. When (and if) it's actually released, then I'll be surprised!

As the reviewer assigned to this label, I echo (bridge? ) the sentiments above. I expressed exactly the same comment at our last staff meeting: "I'll be surprised if it ever streets."

Hopefully it arrives no later than August. I'm getting real antsy here. It was one of the most fun theatergoing experiences I've had in years and I'd love to show it to my friends.

If they could do so legally, I assume that they would.

Fans of Astron-6/The Editor, have you seen the new teaser for their upcoming web series? It looks just as magnificently bizarre as we have come to expect!

I just saw this. Wow! It's one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a very long time! I had to add it to my collection! It arrives Friday I liked it so much I had to blindbuy Manborg, The Editor, and the Astron-6 collection of shorts

How gory is The Editor compared to Father's Day? I saw a clip on YT of a guy getting stabbed in the shower but I swear the effect looked bad even for Astron-6. It looked like red water being hosed out of the knife handle...

Plz tell me the other kills are more interesting?

I'm really surprised there's no kill counts for this movie, I can't find any compilations which isn't a good sign...

If you're watching specifically for the kills, then I can almost guarantee you won't enjoy it. The movie is parody of italian giallo films and gore is pretty tame compared to even Father's Day.

Is this legit? It's sold out on 84 Entertainment's own website so yeah I hope it's not a bootleg or anything.

Also do you know if the two commentary tracks on the six-disc limited edition are in German language?

Are any of the extras in German while we're at it lol

Troma seriously need to reissue this movie. The single disc Bluray with no extras ain't cutting it. They did the 4-disc limited edition but 1 disc was a CD sampler (forget that) and 2 bonus DVDs of extras. How hard is that to mass produce? DVDs are cheap af. They shoulda done something for the anniversary last year or they could do an Astron-6 back catalogue collection now that they're over. But I guess the legal issues with Lloyd Kaufman make him wanna stay away from their IP. Shame.

Father's Day is owned by Troma. There were no legal issues – Astron-6 just didn't like the deal they made long after they made it. Troma also no longer owns the rights to the Astron-6 short films.

Okay well my main point is they should reissue Father's Day with better extras. There's a 4-disc limited edition (US) plus a 6-disc (German) so obviously a new release might reduce their value but Troma could still strike a balance so each release has a unique feature set. Just don't do absolutely nothing!! Barebones is so boring.

In Australia we do have a 2-disc DVD but unfortunately it's censored. If it wasn't, I'd easily pick up that and not fuss. 1 bonus disc of extras is fine.

I have no say in the decision, but I also don't see any point in re-releasing something a) that's still in print, and b) wouldn't have any input from the A6 crew. There is (was?) a feature-length documentary that A6 created independently but they refused to turn it over to Troma. Unless something were to change, there really isn't anything to revisit.

Unfortunately, just like other studios, the efforts are concentrated on streaming and physical media is a distant second.
