Default Blu-ray 'Aspect Ratios'

I 'm not a fan of dead space (black bars on top and bottom of movie) on my screen when watching dvd. I think that if i pay for 73 inches on a T.V. screen and i see Iraq and Bush in 'Full High definition' - 'tip-to-tip' , i should be able to watch fantastic 4 (part 2) and pirates in the same ratio. I noticed that studios never have a problem releasing full hd for cartoons and kid movies. Why are they doing this to the adults who are actually paying for all this equipment?

1. does anyone know how to search for dvd's produced in 1.85:1 ratio (full hd)?
2. does anyone know who to complain to?
3. does anyone know of a device that can recalibrate the picture from dead space to full hd?
4. can we list the dvd's we have in 1.85:1 ratio under this thread (i'll start first)

1.85: ratio dvd's
-------------------

1. are we done yet? ( ice cube and nia long)
2. bridge to terrabithia? (again another Kid Movie)
3. ice age 2: melt down (another K.M.)

There are a couple of usefull threads...I found them when I made my black bars post.

It is always either Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or Black Bars.

I had a problem with black bars too...but that was when I had a 37" LCD.

Now that I have an 80" screen, they don't bother

The black bars are there because that is the aspect ratio the director shot the film in. If they use 1.85:1 no bars, 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 or 2.41:1 you are going to have black bars....

You do have an option hit that button on your tv remote and stretch the picture to fill the screen...
