I want both.I want the red one to be the slipcover, and I want the other to be the cover art for the case inside. That would be perfect in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of double dipping if the original has a decent transfer. Even with a better releases. I figure the way these studios re-release every few years its best to skip a few years and buy the ultimate edition down the road. Too many other great releases this Oct.

I was just sitting here looking at my KINO Buster Keaton The Saphead and wondering why in the world when a release has a slipcover they use the same artwork as the case. Seems like a wasted opportunity. But yeah I agree 100% with you on The Princess Bride.

I'm not double dipping, even if I did get this for $5. I like the red one best, though. Looks more like a book cover, which is better for a movie like this.

based on the comments on FB, the left one appears to be the favored one.

I still like my idea above the best, but I think another compromise would be to have reversible cover art

This is one of my all-time favorites, but the current disc looks fantastic as it is. Unless they've gone back to do an entirely new transfer, I doubt this release will be worth picking-up unless it has some killer, must-have new extras.
It'll probably be like the Spaceballs re-release. Completely unneeded.

I really want this movie on Blu. But not for an extra $10. The thing is, the previous release (just the Blu) someone on Best Buy reviewed it and said it was a badly done pan and scan transfer? Can anyone confirm what the existing version actually is? As much as I love this movie and want the best edition, I've bought it so many times already... So if the edition out now is the same as this new one minus two featurettes, I'd rather get the cheaper one

that person is a moron then. it's a perfectly fine OAR transfer.

The Princess Bride is one of my all time favorites. That said, I see no reason to double dip. I only do that for better transfers. It's already a good blu-ray anyway.

Correct. OAR of the film is 1.85:1.

Nor me...and what frustrates me more than anything is that there are so many other great TCF/MGM catalog films yet to be released on Blu, and here we are getting a completely unnecessary double-dip on what's already one of the strongest catalog releases on the the format as is...

So is this a digibook? Regular blu with slipcover? If it's just a re-release with a regular blu-ray case... then what IS the point?

A necessary double-dip to me, would be RoboCop (I'm not a fan, but you and I think that it's a good idea cuz even that turns 25 this year).
