Default Transformers DVD looks good on PS3

Just got a copy of The Transformers DVD from Walmart (who apparently put them out before midnight lol) and I was checking out the movie on my PS3 which upconverts to 1080p and I can truly say looks great! I really can not see any differance between the 1080p HD Trailors I downloaded from the PS3 store and the standard DVD set. The sound is good but the PCM sounds on blu-ray still sound much better. If you have a PS3 a HD-TV you will be happy with the DVD and not having this on blu-ray is really no big loss.

Since Paramount doesn't want our money, I feel ok about. Thank you Transcode360.

I guess the best thing to do is buy a used copy of the Transformers DVD from ebay. That way you're not giving your money to Paramount, right?

Good strategy to be sure, But I will still wait for the real thing (BD). And if paramount delivers the same compressed 5.1 audio track that HD DVD got, forget it. I'm not going to support an inferior product technology equivilent either. The pocket book is the only way you can get what you deserve on HD releases. Money talks. It's just a matter of how smart will the head(s) of Paramount be in 16 months from now....

Actually you sort of are. You are paying part of the cost that the original seller bought it for. Its like they get a partial refund and pass the receipt on to you.

Blockbuster shipped my online rental today. I only rent dvd's (B'Buster unlimted plan), but buy blu-rays!

Think I'll go to Wal-Mart, grab a copy, open it, pop it into a display TV w/DVD and watch it in-store.

Then I'll leave.

Problem solved.

I'm renting it from Blockbuster tomorrow but I won't buy it until it comes out on blu-ray no matter how good it looks on dvd because blu-ray is better. Transformers will be on blu-ray in approximately 18 months or less

I'm in the boycotting any Paramount format of movies until they come back to BD. Buying the DVD of this title of coarse only supports the DVD division and does not extend the format war like buying the HD DVD, but it still rewards Paramount financially to help to compensate for any Blu-ray $$$ loss they may have incurred from a BD release of this title. Not to mention the back-alley shady financial deal they received from Toshiba. I will never support these kind of collusion business practices.

If they view HD DVD as short term as the XBox, it's good to stick to PS3 Xbox 360 joeorc 21 07-09-2007 06:17 AM
