All I can say for this year is WOW! This is easily close to 100 great titles this year or coming and the year is only just over half done.
There are a lot of titles here I thought would never see bluray or at least for some time.

So what possibly could still be announced for this year. We know these will not be ready til 2013 based on prior announcements - The Abyss, True Lies.

But perhaps we will see:
Willow
Schindler's List [UPDATE: Officially indicated that this will not be available this year]
Slithers (hoping still announce for Halloween, previous on HD)
The Right Stuff
Mission to Mars
Jeepers Creepers [UPDATE: 7/11 was announced that this title is coming 9/11/12]

The Boogens
Below (90's haunted submarine flick)
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (Olive/TBA)
Lawrence of Arabia (TBA)
Halloween 4
Halloween 5
Night of the Living Dead (1990 Remake)
They Live
Phantasm II
Rosemary's Baby (Criterion)

I'm sure I've missed one or two but, yeah, impressive year.

These 2 are listed here on this site as having no release date, can you confirm another resource. I believe They Live was announced but then a delay with no new date. Its one of my favorites as well with "Prince of Darkness" being another. Unless you are indicating what you believe will be released Nov/Dec during holiday 2012.

Yes, I tried to get most of the titles and yes probably missed a few.

From OP:
Here is a list of some of the key catalog titles being released or officially announced for release this year in US.

UPDATE:
Looks like They Live was announced today

Hoosiers and Lethal Weapon have been released before so I don't know if they should count entirely. Great year, after this year is finished there won't be much left.

Still, I am sure that 2011 will go down as the best year for blu ray in terms of catalog releases.

Hoosiers looks noticeably better going from MPEG-2 to AVC and the re-release actually has extras.

Sorry, I don't know how to link but on Horrordvds.com someone quoted a Facebook posting from Shout Factory that said THEY LIVE is scheduled for 11/16. Phantasm II was said to be a possible late October release. Barring unforseen circumstances, all of the titles I listed are scheduled to be released in 2012.

Paramount had some kind of press release/advertisement that showed the remaining catalog releases for their 100 Year anniversery. Sunset Boulevard was listed as a November release, and Catch Me If You Can was a December release.

Correct that's why I listed it. And Lethal Weapon 3 was never released before and thus part of this years Lethal box set collection.

I KEEL YOU with an Avatar from "They Live", I thought you would at least humor a vote for 2012 being the best year for catalog
They Live is being released on 11/6/2012 in case you were not aware

The years not over yet But yes 2011 was also a very good catalog year. With Star Wars and Jurassic Park in 2011 it might be pretty hard to top. But I like to think Indiana can match Star Wars in the top big titles to be released. And certainly ET, Jaws, and Titanic combined make for a good competitor to Jurassic. Then we have Newman in Color of Money, Pacino in Scent of a Woman and Spielberg's Empire of the Sun.
I think at least 2012 is at least equal to 2011 for catalog titles. And any movie lover and collector has got to be beyond happy with the last 2 years. I think if we get a Schindler's List and maybe another fairly top title in 2012, then it might tip the scale towards 2012 some more as being the best year for catalog titles. Maybe at the end of 2012, we can create a thread and have a vote.

2011 in perspective (these are just a sampling of 2011 top titles):

[Show spoiler]

Star Wars
Jurassic Park
LOTR Extended
Pulp Fiction
Platoon
Das Boot
Taxi Driver
Scarface
Ten Commandments
Citizen Kane
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
The Island
Backdraft
The Blues Brothers
Good Will Hunting

Where the hell is Munich?

Obviously Indiana Jones is pretty much the biggest juggernaut yet to be released.

Well looks like we can scratch "Schindler's List" off as being a possible 2012 title.

Quote:
First, a number of readers have been asking about Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List in recent days, because there's a Universal 100th anniversary promotional piece that mentions the film on the new Born on the Fourth july Blu-ray. So is the film coming in 2012 for the studio's anniversary? The short answer (confirmed with the studio today) is no. However, the long (and better) answer is that next year is the film's 20th anniversary. So you can expect to see it on Blu-ray sometime probably later in 2013, as a major catalog release.

Also disappointing news in same article is that its likely we won't see "True Lies" or "The Abyss" until 2014.
