German distributors Koch Media have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray acclaimed Australian director Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), starring Rachel Roberts, Anne-Louise Lambert and Vivean Gray. Street date is July 27th.

In addition to the Standard Edition Blu-ray release, Koch Media will also offer a Special Edition (BD/3DVD) with additional supplemental features.

Standard Edition:

Original Trailer
Bildergalerie mit seltenem Werbematerial (Stills and rare promo materials)

Special Edition:

Kinofassung (Cinema Version)
Dokumentationen (Documentary)
Interviews

Promos
Trailer
u.v.m. mit einer Laufzeit von über 5 Stunden (more than five hours of additional content)

Peter Weir's atmospheric film is based on actual events which have never been fully explained. On St Valentine's Day 1900, a group of Australian schoolgirls set out on a picnic. Two of the girls and one of the teachers mysteriously vanish, and even an extensive search turns up nothing.

Locked? I do see that it has a B symbol on the back in the site pics so I assume so.

I have the blu-ray here but sadly can't open it, since it is sealed and I bought it for a friend in the US :-). It is a very sturdy special edition with a pink border and a kind of hardcover digipak.

Koch mostly locks their releases to Region B, cause they just have the license for that region then - similar to Shout! Factory in the US. But there have ben exceptions, such as King of Queens - surprisingly the complete season is Region A compatible. Although the packaging states Region B only.

Definitely curious to know as this has more extras than the unlocked AUS edition.

Now I'm curious to know about this having both cuts? That's what I understand "Kinofassung (Cinema Version)" to mean.

The 3-Disc-Edition has both cuts. But the theatrical version that lasts a few minutes longer than the director's cut is DVD only, aspect ratio of that cut is 1.66:1.

Differences between the two cuts can be seen here:
