Default Keep-32 - No More Dentists????

Is this the cure to yearly dental vists? The below article is from the Dailymail.co.uk, although it has been posted elsewhere also.

Quote:
A new chemical could make human teeth 'cavity proof' - and do away with the need for visits to the dentists forever.
The molecule has been called 'Keep 32' - after the 32 teeth in a human mouth.
The chemical was designed by dentists in Chile, and wipes out all the bacteria that cause cavities in just 60 seconds in tests.
The chemical could be added to any current dental care product, turning toothpaste, mouthwash and chewing gum into 'super cleansers' that could get rid of the underlying cause of tooth decay.
The chemical targets 'streptococcus mutans', the bacteria that turns the sugar in your mouth into lactic acid which erodes tooth enamel.
By exterminating the bacteria, 'Keep 32' prevents the damage to teeth before it happens.
Using a product containing the chemical keeps your teeth 'cavity proof' for several hours.
The product has been under test for seven years, and is now going into human trials.
It could be on the market in 14 to 18 months, say researchers José Córdoba from Yale University and Erich Astudillo from the University of Chile.

The chemical could even be added to foods to stop bacteria damaging teeth as you eat.
The researchers hope to licence the patent to chemical giants such as Procter and Gamble.
'We are currently in talks with five interested in investing in our project or buy our patent,' say the researchers.

Even if its not the cure who long would it take to get to the states? Here in the states the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA play games with cost and care.........

I live in the states, I know what you mean. I am not sure. I think in the article it mentioned 14 - 18 months, but I am not sure exactly what that was referenced to.

You can be sure that the dentistry-related special interest groups will do everything in its power to keep this from ever appearing on US store shelves.

Well until it can show absolute results in human trials for however long THAT takes to show a legit example, say a year of maybe not brushing ones teeth but using this solution...if the person goes to the dentist the following year and doesn't have a cavity proved by dentists, then I would have to agree dentists are obsolete. Can't say it would be a horrible thing, route canals and fillings in general are just one of the most unpleasant things in the world, and the economy would possibly do better without the need for dentists. Just sayin'...

They are probably in Congress as we speak, distributing checks galore.

I hope the trials fare well, and that this product does indeed eventually come in the US. So much pain and suffering avoided (and it's not like it will solve 100% of dental problems, dentists will still have work).
