Tom Selleck, in his role as small-town police chief Jesse Stone, returns to the home screen in JESSE STONE: BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT, the latest chapter of the popular TV franchise, debuting on DVD August 7th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Adapted from characters created in the late Robert B. Parker’s best-selling novels, the new installment of the critically acclaimed crime drama leads audiences into a dark, suspenseful mystery in which Stone investigates the chilling case of a double homicide. Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Kathy Baker (TV’s “Picket Fences”), Kohl Sudduth (TV’s “Grosse Pointe”), Gloria Reuben (TV’s “ER”), Stephen McHattie (Immortals), Robert Carradine (TV’s “Lizzie McGuire”), Saul Rubinek (TV’s “Warehouse 13”) and William Devane (TV’s “24”) also star in the TV movie.

JESSE STONE: BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT originally aired on CBS May 20 with 12.8 million viewers. The TV movie is directed by Robert Harmon. The screenplay, based on characters created by Robert B. Parker, is written by Tom Selleck and Michael Brandman.

Selleck is very good in Jesse Stone. That movie was good but I wouldn't buy it.

My parents love these when they show on TV. I will buy it for them so they can stack it on top of the pile of other dvds that I have bought them over the years that have never been opened.

I apologise for bringing back a thread which was last posted in eight years ago, but I was going to start a thread for the series of Jesse Stone TV films, and did a thread search first. Thinking about starting watching them soon (the only one I haven't got is the last one (the only one I think, which was made for or by Hallmark).

GREAT series. I have all of them. I usually watch the series once a year.

Would love to see them do another TV movie.

Is Stone Cold the first one to watch? I'd read that it's a prequel.

Night Passage is the prequel to Stone Cold so if you want to watch the series in how things started, that is the one to watch first.

Thanks. It saves me starting watching the series of TV films, before finding out I should have watched them in a different order.

A new Jesse Stone TV film being made, I think depends on the future of Blue Bloods. I'm guessing a new one would have to be filmed during the show's hiatus, although that would take up some of Selleck's break from filming Blue Bloods.

Just wanted to double-check, but have any of the Jesse Stone novels not been turned into TV films?

Most haven't. There are a number of authors who have been writing Jesse Stone novels since Parker's death. Parker wrote 19. Michael Brandman wrote 3. Reed Farrell Coleman wrote 8.

There are 9 movies on DVD.

Hallmark did the ninth film and has an option for the 10th but so far nothing has materialized.

Have got the DVD releases of the first eight TV films. Haven't yet got Lost in Paradise.
