Default Question regarding PS3 upscaling

I have my PS3 connected to my projector that is capable of doing 1080i, and its connected using component cables. When I set my PS3 to "Double" on DVD upscaling, I think I read a message that said the PS3 wont upscale DVD-ROMs using component cables.
Did I understand this correctly. I cant upscale my DVDs? Is the only way to Upscale from a PS3 is using HDMI?

Thanks

Yes, it is true. I had to change my set up and get the HDMI cable. It is worth the cost though.
