According to the review below, the picture quality of this edition is just awful:

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia Blu-ray Review

Luckily, Pro-B has reviewed the Italian disc, and it looks quite good, though it misses the extras from the French disc.

How are these compared to the Spanish release? Is it the same?

I have not seen any them, but I would be very careful with anything that comes through Opening as there appear to be a pretty good number of titles that use 1080/50i transfers (from very old masters). They have a lot of telecine/filtered transfers as well.

Pro-B

Edit: Just updated the specs for the French release. Indeed, it uses a 1080/50i transfer and has imposed French subtitles.

I have the spanish BD and the french BD, and you can forget the french edition, it is just bad as bad as the french reviewer says it is.

It is soft (grain has been almost completely removed) with bad compression issues and artifacts all over the place in dark areas. Plus it is 1080i.
The spanish looks more filmic, it is 1080p, and it has the original poster as a cover. Head and shoulders above the french release.
Besides, the bonus material is not that good.

I will probably buy the italian disc if I find it cheap just for the cover and because I love the movie so much
