I was reading the past news about the site database data loss a few weeks back and that got me thinking, who has redundant collection lists? I run two lists myself, one being the one here on the site, and another one through an iPhone app called "my movies for iPhone Pro" made by a company called Binnerup Consult. Whenever I get new Blus I scan barcodes into both programs. Interestingly enough though my Blu-Ray.com collection is actually showing a count of two more movies than what I actually have. I may need to delete them all and readd them to find the inconsistency. Back to the subject though, do you run two lists and if so, what do you use?

I do keep two lists.
My main list in EMDB, a program I downloaded which, if you have never seen it, is a digital movie shelf. Add the movies, Blu or DVD, seen it or not, personal rating, descriptions, etc. I use this when I have company over. It's easier to launch the program and let them go through than standing at my real shelf and describing each one to them. My second list is on here of course. This is my backup in case I get robbed and my computer is taken. That way I'll know what movies to submit to insurance. |

What is this app version that I keep seeing people write about? I have an Android phone and would be quite interested in being able to simply scan a new blu-ray that adds it to my database
Same for me! Except I use an OpenOffice document in order to have columns and page breaks to separate DVD, blu-ray, HD-DVD Last edited by GuyIncognito; 07-21-2012 at 03:10 PM. |

I use this site and I also keep track of my BDs, DVDs, CDs, CD-Rs and Vinyl (but not my VHS, because I only have a few left and not the few things I have downloaded) in a massive spreadsheet on my computer. For some reason I can't explain, I don't keep track of my books, although I have indexed just about all my paper technical journals, papers and catalogs. I figured there was no point keeping them any more if I couldn't easily know what was in them or locate an article of interest. Over the years I've culled them down, but my recent project has been to scan the "tearsheets" that I've kept when I haven't kept an entire issue.
I alternate between wanting to be a completist and wanting to live a Zen life. Lately, the Zen is winning out and I've been trying to get rid of stuff, but it takes a pretty long time to scan even an inch worth's of articles. I backup the computer regularly, so even if my computer dies and nothing can be saved, the backup will be only two weeks out of date for my media database at worst. Why do I keep the database? With all the media I've bought, sold and re-purchased over the years, I no longer know in my head all that I have. Before I order or buy anything, I have to check my lists to make sure I don't already still own it. |

i use this site.
i use the my movies pro app for iphone. i use the blu-ray.com my movies app for iphone (which syncs with the site). i also used to use dvd profiler, but i'm having issues with it (as are many, many others) so i really don't like to even open it. i use game collector for my games. as far as i know they don't have an app for smart devices yet so it's only for computers, but it's cool to have something to keep track of them. |

it's more of an annoyance than an issue.
every time i open dvd profiler, i get a tempnote.html window open in my browser. i've done searches and tried every suggestion that's been said/posted and none of them work. i get the tempnote.html window when i open the program, when i click anywhere inside the dvd profiler window, when i save something, when i add something, when i delete something, when i try to do anything in the program i get this window. it doesn't keep it from working, but having to close a tempnote.html window (or sometimes 2 or more) every time i do something is annoying as hell. which is why i really haven't used it that much after it started. and just in case you're wondering, yes, i have the latest version.
