I'm looking for a gaming laptop any suggesting would be greatly appreciated!
I'm thinking of a budget about $1,500 My current tower at home has a i7 2600, a Readeon HD 6870 and 16gb of ram. I would like something a little more powerful. And is there any sites that custom build laptops? Thanks, Joe Last edited by squijee; 07-23-2012 at 11:26 PM. |

For just $150 more you can get the Asus G75VW-DS71 for $1650 at J&R online. It also comes with a mouse and laptop bag. Plus free shipping.

I'd also recommend looking into MSI. This model comes with a state of the art Nvidia GTX 670 graphics card that is even better than the HD 6870. There is slightly less RAM (12 GB), and uses an I7 3610QM (2.3 GHz), but most laptop processors are usually lower compared to desktops, and most games don't even take advantage of the RAM anyway. It should run most games even better than your tower. Currently costs $1475 now.

Wow thanks for the suggesting guys!
I know I don't need as much ram i want at least 8GB. I would like a 1TB HDD too. And how come laptop processors aren't as powerful as desktops? Can anyone comment on how well these laptop stay cool, because i heard gaming laptop can have poor cooling/ventilated |

These MSI laptops stay very cool, even in an exceptionally hot climate. They have a feature called "Cooler Booest Technology" which is essentially an extra fan speed with a fancy name, but it does help tremendously, should you need it. The one i have doesn't come close to my main rig as far as performance goes, but it does run most of the latest games maxed out, in 1920x1080. I've been messing around with the GW2 Beta, and that runs flawlessly, as well.
As far as "not needing" 16GB of ram, it doesn't hurt to have it, anyway....but 12GB is more than enough. A TB HDD is nice, but these laptop HDDs are usually very slow, which, (for me), is a no go. The previously linked MSI model packs a 7200 RPM HDD, which is pretty slow, even compared to the old 1500 RPM Velociraptors. So, i just replaced it with a 40GB SSD, and added s 120GB SSD for games. These laptops are very upgradable, which is a fantastic. |

As SBC28 said, the laptops are upgradable, both Hard Drive and RAM can be upgraded, and SSD are definitely worth a look, as they cut down load times and installs a lot, although 7200 RPM HDDs aren't seriously slow. Most of my games usually don't take much more time to install as it is to log on my steam account. |
