France Holy Motors (Leos Carax)

The film of the year!

Holy Motors Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

NEWS/TRAILER

Quote:
French label Potemkine has revealed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of director Leos Carax's (Lovers on the Bridge) Holy Motors (2012), starring Denis Lavant, Edith Scob, Eva Mendes, Kylie Minogue, and Michel Piccoli. The preliminary release date set by Potemkine is November 6th.

Monsieur Oscar (Lavant) is a man of many identities. Driven around Paris by his chauffeur, Celine (Scob), he makes use of an elaborate dressing room in his limousine to assume the appearance and identity of a number of different figures. At various points throughout the day Oscar is a businessman, a beggar, an assassin, a father and an old woman, venturing out into the world to engage with others in each role and embarking on bizarre adventures that include kidnapping a beautiful model, Kay (Mendes). What is at the root of Oscar's extraordinary behavior?

Note: British distributors Artificial Eye will release Holy Motors theatrically on September 28. A Blu-ray release is expected early in 2013.

Chances are slim. The film is sold in a number of territories already.

I would wait for the AE release if you need English subs. They are almost always of exceptionally high quality.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw that a local distributor had already picked up the rights for this and a lot of other promising films (Renoir, Like Someone in Love, Angels' Share, Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, etc.). Too bad I have to wait until autumn to see all these.

You should definitely try to see Beasts of the Southern Wild theatrically if I could, Erik.

Needless to say, Holy Motors also needs to be experienced theatrically. I really hope that we eventually get this film on Blu-ray as well (one of my all-time favorite):

By the way, this release is also very much worth picking up:

p.s. Disregard my comment, not with this price tag.
