Default What's the difference?

Can someone tell me what the difference is between all these "steelbook" "metalpack" "metalbox" "ironpack" etc cases?

I've noticed that some are not as popular as others (or even disliked)...

I should say I know nothing about any of these formats (except that I got one steelbook by pure chance when I bought Highlander (UK).

There isn't too much difference tbh. It's more subtle differences in terms of look but i believe that sometimes theres an actual physical difference to them which to the trained or knowing people can be easily seen or felt.

You'll be happy with either type though

Ah, Cheers

That's what I figured, but I did see posters in another thread turning their noses up at the "metal box" case. I guess to the connoisseur it is noticeable.

If you look after them all you shouldn't see any issue but i have heard VIVA cases are a bit more prone to being damaged bu i altogether avoid placing them anywhere they can get damage. I actually secure and pack them away after i take the disks out.

I don't think you have a choice with some releases as they only release in certain countries and in certain packaging e.g. UP steelbook, Toy Story Iron Packs etc.

You've been here since February 2008, and you seriously don't know the differences?

Yes this is the first time I have ever entered this section of the forum, and I have never been interested in these cases prior. Just fell upon it by accident researching a BD release, and was curious.
