Frankly, I know nothing about THE HUMAN STAIN, but I'm delighted beyond all measure that THE CROSSING GUARD, Sean Penn's best film (and, yes, I've seen INTO THE WILD), is finally on its way! Bye bye, old non-anamorphic DVD!

The Human stain is IMO an OK but not particularly great film. I'd rate it as just average. It does explore an interesting theme though, about a man with two black parents who looks white, and tries to deny his ancestry, by creating an elaborate false facade about his identity.

Definitely agree - The Crossing Guard is an excellent film. Jack Nicholson is fantastic in it

Interesting, I see that Amazon has this listed as a pre-order coming out in September for 19.99. I just picked this up today (8/20) at Walmart for $5.00 It had a 'Promo' label on it. Oh well. Bargain.

well it did have a confusing ending but I didn't find it too bad. Nicole has a nice back :P Did in Malice too although that showed more. however I'm not sure if that was a body double or not. Interesting the German release is 5.1 but this is 2.0. And German release is ABC but this site says Region B (A&C untested) can't seem to change that even if the back cover on this site has that ABC listing. is it in PAL or NTCS or mix. don't know but 5.1 sounds better than 2.0 (no woofer) Released during a time when people were getting into blu rays and before some of us were getting annoyed ones outside the USA were either ABC but not here yet or Region B only and we needed a hacked player.. and I've been told Oppo, the only one with a legit Region free blu ray player is getting out of that biz O_O Still... cant' rent it from netflix which is stuck in 10 years ago when DVD's started their slow death. And Streaming was free or came with the membership and bothered to work. Gotta get it from the 3d blu ray rental site. Although someone can bring the german title up to them, I finally ran into a movie they won't carry even with Region ABC (La Mome or Lie Vien En Rose (sp) in anywhere but France. ) Oscar award winning movie maybe they know something I don't like is it coming out. Although being a bit of a rogue I had to go for the other title. Still though I'd prefer Human Stain in 5.1 not 2.0 (no bass, while I don't have a subwoofer I do have an amp which throws it to my 300 watt intended Sony speakers even though the Pyle is absurd calling it a 500 watt amp (100 watt plus 5 inputs and outputs) = 500 smh

Beating a dead horse... bringing up/asking something that has been discussed a thousand times before

So has anyone ever been able to find out if the releases outside the US are region free? Would love to have this in 5.1

Bought a used copy of this double feature at Goodwill. Are either of these worth a watch?

Not really. I wouldn't get rid of my copy, but it isn't something I'm reaching for on a regular basis.

THE CROSSING GUARD is superb, and essential for any fan of Jack Nicholson.
