Default New Army Of Two Game: The Devil's Cartel

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel announced - Visceral, Frostbite 2 confirmed
Quote:
EA has announced Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, the third instalment in its co-op action series due for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 in March 2013.

In development at Dead Space 3 developer Visceral and running on Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2 engine, Devil's Carterl introduces a "more intense, mature and grittier tone," according to EA.

The new stars of the game are Alpha and Bravo, employees of paramilitary outfit Tactical Worldwide Operations who find themselves caught in a Mexican drug war.

EA promises splitscreen co-op plus new character customisation options for the sequel.

Visceral's executive producer Julian Beak said of the game: "We wanted to refresh the Army of Two franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favourites.

"With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico's deadliest drug cartels."

Visceral's general manager Steve Papoutsis added: "Our goal with Army of Two The Devil's Cartel is to apply our key design principles - immersive, challenging gameplay, intense narrative and focus on quality - to help improve a franchise we feel has always had a lot of potential."

"We wanted to refresh the Army of Two franchise for a new generation of action gamers"

A new generation of action gamers?? The first game came out 2008 on current gen consoles.

I liked the split screen action of the first one, will give this a go I am sure; exp. if its running Frostbite 2.0

EA sure do like to keep lukewarm franchises churning out a while after thier mild successes. I don't know anyone who played the AoT games brand new, but plenty have played them second hand. I also see that Visceral are working on a sequel to Dantes Inferno, another mildy successful title.

If there isn't so many glitches plaguing the two games, I'm sure it'd sell a lot more and a lot better than the other two....I still haven't played the 2nd one, but the first one I enjoyed!!

I've only gotten through a bit of it. New relationship and work has kept me away from it. I like what I have played, but kinda bummed storywise so far.
[Show spoiler]Rios and Salem go through what they go through in the first two games and a cartel with a rocket launcher takes out Salem. I'm sure he's not dead though because there's a TWO guy in the trailer who's burned.
But, with playing as Alpha, it's ok.

Won't be working on too much Dead Space. They announced this week that DS3 will be the last due to the shitty reception it received.

Demo comes out tomorrow? Definitely want to try that out before sinking $60 into EA coffers. Still pissed about AoT 40th Day support non-existance.

I liked both previous games, the first one more than second. However, I will just wait until this one goes on sale.

I played the demo, it feels quite a bit different from AoT 40th Day. I also hit a glitch before the helicopter segment, where the AI stands around not getting into position to trigger the next checkpoint. One new thing is that picking up weapons replaces the weapon you had equipped, unlike AoT 40th Day where you keep your initial 2 guns and carry the enemy gun as #3 (not counting sidearm) until cut scenes or ammo depletion. The demo didnt allow the user to change the camera to either side of the shoulder, so I wonder if it is permanently over the right shoulder 3rd person? Behind cover it does allow a switch but only while behind cover. The cover to cover mechanics at first seems complicated but there is a display icon to transition to cover and requires just a simple button press to auto-cover. It seems the weapon customization is built in to the main menu which is nice, and possibly the mask creator/tattoo creator may be built in to the game and not rely on a server (this was not actually available to customize in the demo). Might be worth a purchase off PSN if you can find friends to split the cost via an account share.

The guys at Visceral Games can't seem to take a break; i wonder if the fact that the guys who created Dead Space 1 bailed out to join Activision under the name Sledgehammer Games has had a lasting effect on the studio? Dante didn't work, they kept turnin' out Deadspace games, and got handed a B Grade franchise like Army Of Two. Best of luck to them...

I just downloaded the demo yesterday. It was my 1st experience with AOT. I enjoyed it. I am one of the few that prefers 3rd person shooters than FPS. I'm definitely gonna grab this game.

I'm going to pick up the 1st AOT for 7.00 used at Gamestop and see how it is. I see negative reviews on 40th Day so I'll skip to the The Devil's Cartel after

Picked this up over the weekend and tried it solo. Its not too bad and fun to play if u like blowing up S**T
Probably is, like the previous games, better to play co-op but so far I'm enjoying it.

Finished the game last night. I think its the best out of the 3. Its a fun game to pass the time. If u just want to blow s**t up and not fussed about the story then its enjoyable. There is some nice moments in the game and the Overkill trigger is tons of fun. I played it solo but like the others it will be more fun co-op. Just started my Insane play through as it looks to be an easy plat
