Default Do you buy double/triple feature packs?

I was just wonder what is everyone's opinion on those double/triple feature packs that just include the discs and not individual cases.

Personally, I've been really digging these packs as a cheap way to expand the collection. On top of that, if you have a decent printer you can print off your own covers (either custom or scans of the original) and throw them in their own BR case if you prefer not having T2, Total Recall and Red Heat in one case. However for me there are exceptions: the Die Hard collection and TMNT triple pack are two that I found better to leave as one. Whereas the Predator 1 & 2 double pack I split up as single releases to match the Predators single release (not to mention the actual case they come in is ugly.

So are their others like me who split up the packs into single releases to make organizing your collection easier?

No.

I prefer to have individual movie titles displayed in my collection.

If it's two movies that make sense together, sure (like Sister Act I & II), but when they just slap random comedies or action movies together (and I only want to own one of them), then no.

The again, sometimes these packages are the only way a movie will ever be released on blu-ray, so I'll begrudgingly buy them. Spies Like Us/Funny Farm comes to mind. I wanted Spies Like Us, but really had no use for Funny Farm. But the chances of a standalone Spies Like Us are pretty slim, so I just picked it up. Super cheap, and I got a bonus movie that I'll maybe watch every now and again.

Yes.

You can pick up the Warner Brothers Triple Features at Walmart for $15. $5 a movie is the sweet spot for me.

I've done it a few times with DVD's, but not BD's. The exception being the Wal Mart Harry Potter 2 movie sets. I don't know why, but I always worry that the transfer is inferior compared to a single movie. I know, I know, it is probably the same, but I'm trying not to go nuts with my collection like I did with DVD's. So I'm a bit more cautious with BD's because of it.

I also agree. The only double features I own so far are:

Fantasia / Fantasia 2000
Pocahontas / Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
The Fox and the Hound / The Fox and the Hound 2

Yep. So long as the pack isn't inferior to an individual release for some reason.

I haven't bought many of them though because often they contain something I already have.

Yep, that's how I feel. The only thing is, I have found myself staying away from Warner titles hoping they might show up in a triple feature with another title or two I might want.

As long as they save some money hell yeah. I have a lot. Got the Arnold 3 pack for $5, goodfellas/heat for $9 body of lies/three kings and Donnie Brasco/ we own the night for 7.80, Fearless/Unleashed for $9, and the jet li collection for 12.99. Great deals IMO.

I usually dislike double and triple features but I do think they're OK when it involves a lower-tier film series or related films where having individual releases may not be practical. I hope to someday see standalone releases for Frantic, Kelly's Heroes and Where Eagles Dare. I think these films deserve their own deluxe editions.

Not unless I absolutely have to !

I prefer to have each Movie in it's own Case... must be the OCD in me.

And, for whatever reason, it seems Movies that are in those Double Packs, I have little interest in anyway.

The only exception for me :
I've been waiting years for "Where Eagles Dare" to be released on it's own.
I got tired of waiting, so I did buy the combo pack (with Kelly's Heroes) for $8.39.

Now if I could find & print some nice artwork for both, ... I'd put each Movie in it's own case.

Do not like multipaks, not at all. Can't help but feel they devalue all releases of said movie - except any limited/collectible editions. There are a few exceptions, like Gladiator or Saving Private Ryan which came out together in that awesome Sapphire Collection, or the Superman Trilogy multipack, or African Queen/Casblanca - there's exceptions. Most of the time though whenever something comes out in a multipack I'll pretty much stop caring about said release & completely disown it, maybe even selling my regular release if I have it. Not really an issue however because usually really premium titles never ever get bunched into multipacks. I know it's vain and lame, but just like, my opinion man.

So a company merely re-releasing movies into a double or triple pack makes you want to sell your stand alone versions of the films ?

IT sounds like you need professional help

+1.. i understand people want to save money, but the studios should give us the option of buying individual or double/triple features.. I'm OCD about how the spines look when displayed
