Australia 13th Warrior

Hi again folks

I'm keen on getting my hands on the 13th warrior an old favorite however in the database the only two versions available are German & French the German one has English audio however it says it's got forced German subs

Does this men that you cannot turn subtitles off ?

The French one says French subs so would this then mean I can have just the English audio without subs ? Making the French title the better choice ?

Thanks again
Sam

I have this French release

I haven't played it yet, it apparently has no forced subs plus English HD Audio. The other release is definitely forced and not removable at all. Either way the French release is better and comes with some cool collectibles.

I'll be making a French order of about 6-10 titles soon, and this will be one of them. The only thing I don't like is the foreign language on the cover . As soon as it comes out in the U.S, UK or here, I'll be repurchasing it straight away just for the cover.

Silent Hill, The Grudge 2 and some others which I can't remember, but they are on my price tracking list.

I have the German release, and yes the subs are forced - I use subtitle shift on the Oppo to move them out of the picture area then use the shutter settings on the projector to mask them out.

I;d me interested to know if the french version is better PQ though.

Apparently this is being released in U.S next year

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=208444

I'll just hold off until the U.S release now, and won't include the French version as a part of my next French order.

My dream release would include McTiernan's original cut of the movie, but I doubt we'll ever see that.

A wise decision. It's not worth the money.

Default One of my all-time faves

This is one of my all-time faves. I guess I'm kind of a weird cinephile because I love movies and have a large collection, but I almost never dive into the extra content, backstories, etc. I just really, really appreciate the art of a perfect film. That being said, I'm aware of all the drama behind 13th Warrior with McTiernan and everything, and how it ultimately ruined his life. A couple years back I wrote an impassioned letter to Disney to release it in North America, but I never heard anything back. There must be a way for us to get this ultimate motion picture in North America! Maybe a 4k edition...?
