Default Blu-rays popping on ps3

I have my PS3 Slim (160gb) hooked up via HDMI to my Denon AVR-891 and I've noticed a pop/click type of sound during some dialogue. It does it in the same exact spot of the film every time I replay it. I've taken the PS3 and hooked it up to two different televisions and it makes the same sound as on my AVR. Could my PS3 be faulty?

Also, volume control is set to "normal" on the PS3. I have also checked the HDMI cord and it's good.

Thanks for the input, in advance.

Default Blu Rays popping on PS3

If this happens on more then 1 blu ray disc then I would suggest taking the PS3 in to someone and have them look at it. If this only happens with one disc then it could be the dsc is bad.

Went and got a cheap blu-ray player to test out, and it has the same issues as the ps3. I have noticed all of the blu-rays I have tired are dts-hd. It makes a small pop/click sound during some scenes. So far I have noticed it during Mimic (blu-ray and on netflix), Titanic, The Departed, and a few others. I have no idea what to do to try and fix this issue. It happens both through the avr and surround, and also just with the players hooked up to the tv. Anymore help would be great!

Are all firmware on the players up-to-date? PS3 has latest update for example?

Also, have you checked the surface of your blu-rays? Are they scratch, dirt free?

Also, I assume you have been using the same HDMI cable. It's possible this is also causing the issue. Try swapping out the cable for a new one.

My ps3 is up to date, none of the blu-rays are scratched, and I have tried 3 different hdmi cords. Seems kinda strange.

If you can't upgrade the firmware then you may need to call the manufacturer of the devices that are causing these popping noises and also to upgrade the firmware.

Just tried the ps3 with optical out. Still have the same issue. And I really don't think its my AVR since I get the same issue with the player plugged directly into 2 different tv's. I'm wondering if I'm hearing slight faults in the blu-ray audio.

It's beginning to sound like maybe your PS3 is bad. How long have you had the PS3? If it hasn't been too long then I would suggest having someone look at it because now It sounds like your PS3 is badly damaged and might need to be repaired. It sounds like the audio ports might need to be replaced with new ones. I would call Sony about your problem and explain it to them and see what they have to say on it.

It could've the disc itself. I upgraded my Denon AVR by plugging it into the net via Ethernet. It upgraded itself. Took about 40 minutes. Just don't cut the power or it will brick. It saves your settings and then puts it back when completed.
