Australia The Killing Fields (1984) BD quality.

Anyone own this BD? And if so how is the quality?

Bump for this question.

Such a masterpiece, so little interest or information

Yeah it is sad, but I am guessing that its derived from an older transfer, possibly identical to one of the BD releases in Europe.

Warner needs to step up and release this from a new transfer.

A newly remastered Blu-ray is going to be released next month in Japan:

I don't believe this is necessarily a new master period as much as it's a new HD master as far as Japan is concerned (since this is the debut Japanese BD), so proceed with caution.

BD50 (Movie 37 Gigs) Audio: Dolby True HD, No subs. Runtime: 2:21:52. Audio is serviceable, but not particular engaging and also appears mostly front-heavy, however there does also seem to be a minor delay.

To my eyes the video looks to be an old master which appears a little soft but overall reasonably pleasing with plenty of grain, however there is lots of flicker and some white speckles particularly noticeable in the darker scenes.

Special Features:
  • Audio Commentary with Director Roland Joffé
  • The Making of The Killing Fields - (BBC's Omnibus Special, SD, 54:07)
  • Exclusive Interview with David Putnam (SD 48:18)
  • Theatrical Trailer (SD 2:21)

That is all.
