John Ritter doing the same in 'Problem Child'



2)"Mr and Mrs Smith" the scene where they are battling a bunch of Black Ops guys. They're pinned down in a tent in a huge department store with a ton of well armed guys outside.

The scene is an Homage to the final scene of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" when they're surrounded by the Bolivian Army and outnumbered by about 100:1

Spoof means something rude in Australia.

Ted - The whole movie was a homage to Flash Gordon, as well as spoof of it in many scenes. The ending is also similar to Kindergarten Cop. Could it be that Seth MacFarlane just isn't that good at coming up with original ideas? I mean, for the first movie I've ever seen about a man letting go of his sentient teddy bear, it was an extremely generic buddy comedy.

Where does the line between "extreme homage" and "thievery" become visible, though? Family Guy is pretty much pieced together from homages and winks to everything pop culture, so maybe that's the angle MacFarlane is attacking his film-making with, too? Or, as you say, maybe he just can't come up with original ideas and is using the "homage" argument to hide behind.
