Default Spider-Man 2: The Irritating Screams

I used to love the Spider-Man films with Tobey but watching them again they really feel outdated, and the actresses who kept on screaming in SM2 was really annoying to the point that it turned me off.

Can't justify purchasing the trilogy on Blu-ray after acknowledging they're not as good as I remembered.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) now this was a quality Spider-Man film!

Spider-Man 2 is still my favourite. I don't understand this trend with comic book films now where people just disregard what came before in favour of the latest thing. It wouldn't surprise me if when the Batman reboot came out, people were suddenly slagging off the Nolan films.

That's just human nature I think. I'm a toy collector and I've seen it when lines have changed hands. Once this happens the original company that did it get rose colored goggles and start talking about the good old days. I do agree with the OP that it doesn't hold up as well, but it is still one of my favorites. I kind of wish that 3 was 2 and 2 was 3. The way Mary Jane says, "Go get em Tiger." would have been a better ending for the Raimi movies. With 3 it almost felt like they were where they should have been in the 2nd film.

The originals will always have a place in my heart as they were probably my favourite films when I was 10-13. I still enjoy watching them from time to time (SM2 especially) thought it does have it's faults. I do think TASM was the best Spidey film yet though, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were both excellent and it avoided much of the cheese in the originals.

That was probably because they still thought there would be a fourth film.

It has already begun. Of course, the Batman reboot will be cheesy garbage so I am sure the comic book dorks will love it.

As the Star Wars dorks will love Episode 7.

couldn't disagree--I couldn't get into the new Spider-Man and felt it was too emo and too narrowly aimed at teens. I think SM2 was the best of the Raimi ones.

Yep, Spider-Man 2 still the best.

As for the screams, that is Raimi's style. Along with the horror like scene of Doc Oc escaping and killing the doctors. He comes from a horror background.

When I saw the Amazing Spider-Man last summer I rather enjoyed it. Sadly when I rewatched it on Blu-ray it bored me to tear. TASM really is the worst of all the SM films. Everything about it seems off. The villain is terrible. The story is meh. The manner in which Uncle Ben is handled is garbage. Spider-man 2 is still the best movie in the series.

I'm tired of all the kids on the internet calling everything emo. It's another one of those stupid catch phrases that hit big on the internet and everyone uses it to describe a film they simply didn't like. There were no emo characters in TASM and as for the film being aimed at teens, you can say the same about Spider-Man considering he was in High School when it started and the majority of the trilogy involved him being a love sick puppy over Mary Jane.

I really like the first two Spider-Man films, but calling TASM emo is moronic.

It's always been like that. Love what you saw then hate on it when the new one comes out.

It happened to Pierce Brosnan, Jack Nicholson, Thomas Jane, Edward Norton, and now Tobey Maguire.

I still think Nicholson did a great job in the same role as Heath Ledger, however on-topic I've never liked Kirsten Dunst as Mary-Jane. Unattractive and really only did the damsel in distress thing, hoping Shailene brings more to the role.

Agreed. Nicholson was great as the Joker, as was Heath albeit in a different way.

I found Mary-Jane to be quite unpleasant, Bryce Dallas Howard's Gwen Stacey was far more appealing. Mary Jane seemed to use her boyfriends (Harry and the Jameson's son) for her own gains while wanting Spidey.
