I agree that they are hit-and-miss, but I would say their only good ones are Lebowski, Raising Arizona, and Hudsucker Proxy. Then there's a few mediocre ones, and a lot of horrible ones.

I think Aronofsky is solid overall, but lord did I think Black Swan was overrated. I walked out of that theater totally baffled by what all the fuss was about. All style, absolutely zero substance for me.

PT Anderson is one of those cases where I see the talent there, I see why people love his work technically...I just have never really connected with it personally.

Is Nolan overrated though?

Lets discredit all of the raving Batman fanboy opinions. I love Batman and Nolan's movies but you know the type. The people that couldn't name a director until The Dark Knight came out. Suddenly they know everything there is to know about movies and Christopher Nolan is the best in the business. The ones that will act as if Memento was their own personal discovery that represents their vast knowledge.

Eliminate all that noise. Are the level headed fans treating him like a God?

Fair enough. I posted my thoughts about his filmography in the "Christopher Nolan" thread (Hollywood and Celebrities subforum) if you'd care to take a look.

Speaking of his fanboys:

Fan boy?... why? he isn't my favorite director. I'm simply a fan of movies and since his have been released we have seen something that is not only different but pays homage to movies of the past while being different.

I'm not the person people are describing. I like to think I know a little about movies but you don't have to hate everything to be a proper movie fan. You don't have to watch Casablanca at least once a week and complain about actors "not being what they used to be"

Don't be a stereotype then accuse me of being just this. The Dark Knight trilogy are just movies, very good movies but still.. just movies. I rate nolan but don't ever call me a fan-boy of anything. I like to think that I'm a little more mature than that. Also, I have never even seen Memento.

I admire nolan's style - you don't. Guess what? You're on the internet, you'll find that lots of people have different opinions to you.

My favorite director, by the way, is James Cameron (I wont call him Jim as I don't pretend that I know him) I hated Titanic yet still accept that it is a classic.

Don't ever call me names though, not unless I call you them first. It's wrong, it's disrespectful and it hurts.

Is this because of John Blake?

no longer aimed at you;

I hate how people bad mouth this movie simply because they added a non comic character.
