OVOSONICO SIGNS WITH SONY

SCE WWSE to support Ex Grasshopper Manufacture Game Director’s New Project [at] Ovosonico

Varese, 19th March, 2013 – Ovosonico, a new, independent studio founded by industry veteran Massimo Guarini today announced a partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Europe (SCE WWSE). SCE WWSE will be working together with Ovosonico on new intellectual property.
There has never been a better time to contribute to the growth of the video games industry. Ovosonico aims to challenge convention, to push the boundaries further and expand our medium by delivering innovative, emotionally engaging games that deeply resonate with people.
SCE Worldwide Studios Europe understands our vision and we are thrilled to partner with them. We strongly feel that they are the perfect partner for us.
said Massimo Guarini, Founder and CEO at Ovosonico.

Established in 2012, Ovosonico specializes in creating new IP by designing and developing original, unconventional and artistically-crafted video games. Having previously directed the award-winning Suda51’s Shadows of the Damned, as well as Ubisoft’s Naruto – Rise of a Ninja, Massimo Guarini will be heading the studio and will be directing Ovosonico’s debut title.
We’re incredibly excited to be working with such an innovative new studio as Ovosonico. It is through working with creative minds such as Massimo Guarini that ensures that the best exclusive games are only available on PlayStation and we firmly believe that this relationship will result in something special. This is the first studio we have worked with in Italy and due to the growing talent in this country; we believe the first of many.
said Michael Denny, Senior Vice President, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Europe.

I didn't care for shadows of the damned. I had it on the 360. I had a weird glitch. I got a few hours into the game. For some reason. I lost what weapons I had upgraded.

The scope of this project seems quite different.

Internally they currently have 9 employees +3 more jobs on offer and..

All I can say is that I want to craft memorable experiences. There is so much more to be explored besides throw-away iPhone games and 40-hour long traditional productions.
I think the best way for us to achieve our vision is to provide a strong emotional kick, packaged in a movie-length time frame, and sold at a reasonable price.
So we could expect a very rich, 2-3 hour (per play) game sold for under $20. A bit like Journey.

There's a bunch of artwork by Ovosonico's concept artist here:

Any of that rendered in 3D would be quite different to anything I've seen before.

Sounds like a PSN game to be honest.

"Movie length at a reasonable price"

3 Hour PSN game for $15-$20 from the sounds of it.
