Default Post office rage

A..........B....................C................. .......D
A package I've been waiting 2 weeks on has went from point A to D and then to B I'm at point C and now I have to wait another day on it Even tho it's drove by my house twice
Why??? Why do they do this?
Anyone else ever have problems like this with the postal service

the post office system is an enigma unto itself.

i don't think even those who work at the post office understand it's inner workings.

well put !

true story of package i once send.

I wrote as naturally - receivers address and on the other side of package i wrote senders (mine) address and send the parcel ...

couple of days later i got note from local post office - you have received a package - it was the one i send !!! some one at the post had read that senders address was receiver - even that i had written 'sender' !

so i received my own package did not laugh at the time - it was important papers that should be delivered on time

stories like this are the reasons i use ups to ship packages or for overnight papers.

Here's my post office story from Friday. My parents spend most of the winter in Arizona so they have the post office hold their mail. Every couple weeks I pick up their held mail and send it down to them. Friday around 9:00 AM I called the post office and told them I'd be picking the mail up that day. They said they'd pull it and it'd be ready whenever I came to pick it up. I got to the post office around 10:00 and found it was closed, with a hand-written note on the window that they would be opening late due to a personnel issue. Now first off, why didn't the guy tell me this when I called earlier? Second off, what kind of business doesn't open on time? I live in a decent-size town so it isn't an issue where they only have a couple people that work there.

that's just crazy.

gotta love the non-information on that one. would've been nice, huh?

and what kind of "personal issue" would cause an entire post office to not open until later in the day? that just doesn't sound right.

you could always call/email the postmaster general and lodge a complaint.

this page has the bios of those at the top in the usps system.

and this page has all the contact info.

Yeah, I once ordered something from Amazon, they have a warehouse here in Phoenix and I live in the area. They decided to ship it to KY and back to Phoenix again. I don't get it.

And they wonder why they're losing money.

I've had weird stuff happen like that before. I live in NY and once shipped something to NY. So, you'd think it would get delivered the next day. Wrong. It went from NY to New Jersey and then back to New York again. It took about 3 days. It's just typical carelessness.

I hate the post office customers more than the actual post office cause they're so uninformed they don't know basic things like mailing a letter requires stamps.

Contrary to popular belief, the US post service is an incredibly efficient machine. The are bogged down by dumb laws even though they're supposed to run independent of the government. Sure the mailman has misplaced my stuff before but, it was about five times out of at least a thousand packages.

Sure, I can forgive a misplacement, but a couple of weeks ago, my credit report was delivered OPENED!!
I filed a complaint at the post office because something confidential like a credit report should NEVER be delivered opened. Unacceptable!

Agreed. They're incredibly efficient all things considered.

I live in a small town and anything shipped via Usps goes to my P.O box and anything that goes through Ups or FedEx comes to my physical address. Problem is that sometimes when you order online you don't know how they are going to send it. Used to not be a problem. Even if addressed to my physical but it was shipped Usps, it arrived at my post office and I got a package notice in my box. But now, there is a new lady working and she absolutely REFUSES to do this. If it is addressed to my physical, she turns around and sends it back!!!! She knows my name and box but she doesn't like getting packages not sent to the box. She told me to add my box # to my physical for shipping purposes, but some websites won't accept it, saying it is an invalid address. I've told her this, but she won't budge. She has sent back my detergent and my last shipment from the Disney Movie Club!!:banghead :

this is one time where i'd definitely call and speak to someone WAY above her pay-grade.

shit like that pisses me off.

and all of these complaints sorta make me glad that the postal system around here is "fairly" efficient. we hardly ever get something that's not ours in the mail and we hardly ever have any issues with deliveries gong wrong and packages not showing up. the only issue we have is that we don't have a regular mail-person. we have a different person each day of the week. which means our mail comes at a different time each day. we used to get our mail by 10:30 at the very latest with our regular delivery guy, but he retired and instead of getting one person to take over his route, they parted it out to several different drivers. kinda aggravating because now we never when we're gonna get the mail. it'll come as early as 9:00am or as late as 6:30pm. it's not a huge issue, it's just aggravating. certainly not as bad as those of you in this thread who have had bigger problems. i really feel for you guys. hopefully it gets better for you in the near future.

the mail lady who delivers our mail has delivered us other people mail more then one time. actually had to ring our door bell for us to get it and give us our correct mail in return

one time i was waiting for 3 packages and there was a new mail server on our route, I didn't get the packages and I spoke to her, and she actually put the packages I was waiting for in our neighbors mail box, and it turns out she gave at least 3 other houses the wrong mail in the process

I have been tempted to go above her and complain. Probably will do so if it happens again. Her attitude about it doesn't help much either.
