Ordered the 3D version. The 3D was amazing in this film. For £2 extra its well worth it. Being Disney I wouldnt be surprised if the 2D version misses extras and slipcover.

This is listed on here as Region B, but on Amazon UK it is listed as Region Free.

If the Amazon listing is anything to go by* then at least the UK is getting both 3D and 2D blu-rays in the 3D pack.

*I realise it could simply be an assumption on Amazon's part but it's the only thing we have to go by

They normally do in the US as well but not for this one - 3D disc only in the 3D package. But this release might be one of those times where the US and UK Disney divisions being seperate entities and making their own decisions might actually benefit us for once.

Yup in for the 3d, between the USA and uk releases it's heaping up to be a good year for titles and quickish releases, if not sucky for preorder bonuses and uk slips....

Don't know if this is new or not, but TheHut.com has this image of Oz The Great and Powerful's 3D release...

[Show spoiler]

Looks like it's unaffected from the disgusting changes that Disney US are going through with the release. That is, if the image is accurate. Bonus Features will likely be on the 2D disc like most recent UK releases. Wow...so we may actually have a superior UK release? This feels...weird...

While we're on the subject, did anyone see the movie? I wasn't able to catch it. The big thing I kept hearing was how bad Mila Kunis' acting was in it. Anyone have any opinions on the film?

I enjoyed it a lot, but yes, I agree about Kunis' terrible acting!

Well, at the least, the UK will probably have the superior 3D release, since this one bundles the 2D release on it. Comparing 2D UK to 2D US, however, it's probably going to pale as ususal Disney UK standards, since we pretty much never get the Second Screen features. Still, superior 3D release is something.

I really enjoyed it. It definitely felt like a Sam Raimi movie, and was better for it. In fact there were parts where it was pretty much Army of Darkness in Oz, which I thought was cool. I liked Franco's performance, and I was grateful for the lack of singing munchkins. Definitely worth a watch and much better than Burton's Alice in Wonderland, which I felt was a bit soulless.

The 3D was actually a good laugh in the cinema, but I'll probably go for 2D for the blu.

As for Mila Kunis, she was OK for the first part of the film, but then
[Show spoiler]she becomes the Wicked Witch of the West and she never really brings any malevolence to it. I suppose it's hard to be in the shadow of the iconic performance from the original Oz film but, even so, I wasn't feeling the wickedness tbh. The scorned woman angle didn't really work for me.

I guess my other criticism is that we should have seen more of the flying monkeys/baboons, because they looked awesome.
