Im thinking about getting a projector. Do projectors show as good of a picture as a 1080p tv, or do you lose that picture quality. Does it depend on the projector, the size of your screen, etc. Can anybody help me out. Ive been checking out jvc projectors, lots of good reviews on those.

Having both i love .... both . I have family friends or neighbours that just come over to and they all say the same , that they have a cinema feel that you don't have with a TV .
If you have the chance and visit some dedicated rooms at your local A/V shops and see if it is for you . For me i can't live without my 100" screen ![]() |

Have a look at the last 10 or so pages of this thread. All the pictures are screen shots people have taken from their projectors. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...143615&page=65 |

I like projectors better.
A good one has a far less defined pixel structure so it looks more film like. Obviously bigger and what is often not talked about white uniformity. I have not seen a panel yet that produces a clean white test pattern. This bugs me big time. A good projector will do it perfectly. |

Hhhhhmmm, Drive for half an hour. Wait for movie to start, sit in a bad position, smell horrible popcorn, have people talking, can't pause for a break, then watch the movie with an inferior picture and sound. I don't think so. No more Theatre for me. ![]() Last edited by Badas; 04-22-2013 at 12:32 AM. |

For my equipment that I have, I have sacrificed a little PQ but the advantages of a bigger screen allows me to get more immersed into a movie. Also, I feel with the projector there is a more film like presentation to it that I really love. I hardly go to the theaters and the last one was Skyfall at an AVX theater. I thought it looked okay in the theater, but at home, the picture quality was much better. I kind of know what you are going through because I went through the same hesitations but now that I have a projector, I am very satisfied. With todays projectors and the picture quality you get from them especially the JVC, IMO, they are close to tvs. |

Here's my quick experience.
I have had at least 3 or 4 people come over while my projector is on and they are standing in the doorway of my theater room and say "where do you get a TV that size?" They are shocked when I tell them it's a projector. There's definitely pros and cons but I can't ever see myself switching back to a TV for my media/theater room. Best decision/upgrade I have ever done (and the wife would agree ![]() |
