Default Largest modern consumer Plasma display?

What the title says. Are the Panny sixty-fives the limit for top quality modern 3D panels?

Yes, although the manufacturers were again urged at this year's shootout to present one larger size to compete with the 70~80" market.

My question is, if you're going buy a TV that big why not just go ahead and get a projector?

Well, in my case the answer is practicality. I've measured my future screening room and the limit is 150", but the price to soundproof this space, 11 channel audio, 4K projection etc is prohibitive for now. A good Plasma with a 7.1 HTIB can bide me over meantime. I've no TV at all right now...

Because if you're stinking rich and can afford a $500,000 152" 2160p 3D plasma like it was chump change, you're getting a way better picture and have a 4K-ready screen.

But I agree, for the average guy here that a difference of $100 can be a deal breaker, the only way to get into 100" is a projector. I only have an 11ft viewing distance, so 65" will eventually be fine for me. I love the inky blacks.

The problem is usually environmental - it was for me, and still is. My main theater doubles as a living room/social area, and my secondary main TV watching area is a family room adjacent to the kitchen. Light leakage would be impossible to defeat in those places.

The other reason (like Dobyblue) is I'm nuts for deep blacks, and not only does the viewing area need to be large, but it has to be a deadly sharp picture with radical contrast. The projector/screen/environmental combo to achieve this is pretty much out of the question for me environmentally and economically, so I come to Blu-Ray.com and drool over pictures of what the other guys have done.

If these sets come down to the $5,000 range, I'm good. Until then, I'll stick with the 60" Kuro and consider myself fortunate.
