Default Eco cases. Does everyone use them?

Like most I hate the eco cases now favoured by many US studios. It's one of the reasons I now purchase less US discs. I'm so glad that the blu-ray cases here in the UK are still as robust as ever.

Just out of curiosity I was wondering if most US studios now use them and, more importantly, if there are any that don't?

Not every studio uses them. For example, Sony, Paramount, Dreamworks, Warner Brothers and Disney don't. But it varies from title to title on other studios.

I hate them with a passion. I replace every one with a brand new Vivia Elite case, yeah, I'm like that.

Me too. I have had some that the cover art was damaged because they are flimsy.

Yep, same here. As soon as I unpack an Eco it goes straight in the bin and I replace it with a brand new amaray. So in fact, LESS economical than if they just gave us adequate cases to begin with!
Had plenty of punctured cover art thanks to Eco cases!

In the US, Warner Brothers definitely uses the holey eco cases. I also found it odd that WAC uses the non-holey eco cases and colored disc art for their Blu-ray releases yet WHV uses the holey eco cases and uses black/white disc art.

Paramount has released titles in eco cases as well. Sony uses the Vortex cases and the 1-2 disc cases are only manufactured as, non-holey, eco cases so they're using them too.

This is not true. All movie studios use eco cases. Well the US does. Not sure about India

yes you can get "real" cases from discmakers, BUT the viva elites have gotten thinner and thinner. they are really bad now.
not as bad as wagon-wheel eco cases, but still it's sad to see how thin and flimsy the "real" non-eco elites have become over the past 2 years.

maybe I am just lucky but I haven't had any issues with the eco cases. I have had dvd cases what have cracked and broken but those are usually Walmart bin movies so it is understandable.

I believe eco cases damage the discs, so I throw them out and replace them with real bluray cases.

Paramount do use them, I got eco cases with Friday the 13th Part 2 and Young Frankenstein.
