Slovak cinema on Blu-ray

A very first Slovak movie on the Blu-ray will be Signum Laudis (The Medal) by Martin Hollý shot in 1983.

From what I understand this Slovak based site does ship to all countries. As you can see they offer the standard dvd but the blu-ray won't be available until June 22, 2015. Hope this helps.

Do these ship internationally? They don't seem to accept payment by card or paypal. Furthermore, they only seem to allow 5 digits for the postcode section.

My very first order of Signum laudis at Klapka.sk was a frustrating experience. My physical Visa card couldn't be used for TransferWise service so I have had to transfer money to virtual Visa card and paid with it.
In the end of day they sent me DVD instead of Blu-ray.

Each box set is comprised of 5 films and these releases were made possible by Slovak Film Institute /SFU(Slovenský filmový ústav)

Can not find much information on how many of these are produced but both are priced at approx € 50 each ; Haven't tried any of the below ones except http://nfa.cz on international shipping .

To remember Viktor Kubal and to promote Slovak film heritage, Slovak Film Institute releases in November a special 3 discs edition consisting of Brigand Jurko, The Bloody Lady, and a selection of 13 maestro's short films including a mid-length The Marzipan Comedy (1987) on DVD and blu-ray.

I'm so psyched about Best of Viktor Kubal! If you people are interested in getting the box set, I recommend you send an email to the official shop (klapka@klapka.sk) where you can get all the data for a direct bank transfer. I'm waiting for their reply at the moment, I'll keep you posted.

Alternatively, you can buy it on filmexport.cz - but it's around $30 + $20 shipping...

Hey! So I just received the Kubal set from SFÚ Here's how it goes. When you contact them (klapka@klapka.sk), they will give you the total for your order - I think it's a standard $20 for international shipping, so you should definitely pick Slovak Film 2 box if you're interested. You will be asked to make a direct bank transfer... Then, a bit of patience. It took 5 days for the payment to be received and for them to pack and send the item, plus 8 days for the parcel to be delivered. So you should get your order a couple of weeks after payment is sent.
About VK: Great packaging, zero damage. Gorgeous design, Blu-ray discs are factory-pressed. The only bonus content seems to be the bilingual booklet, which contains lots of info about Viktor Kubal. I'll definitely watch these films as soon as possible
