Default Whats an excellent video editor/maker software?

Hello, Okay, I wasn't sure were to post this, but...
Okay, I'm looking to make an intro to a movie, and i want to be able to have the opening credits beat to the beat of the song and have some crazy designs go along the screen. Just what would be a good software, like it would similar to a lyric video vevo puts out.

Also, this is just for a test, I just have an idea in my head want to see how well I could make it.

i can't vouch for final cut pro (never used it), but after effects is a pretty good program for video editing. we used it at itt for our videos and it was easy to pick up and start learning right away.

FCP is very user friendly and easy to use, perfect for editing videos. For graphics though, after effects is better suited. I don't find after effects very initiative and hard to pick up without a bunch of training.
