Default Homeworld 1 and 2 coming to Digital: Remastered in HD!

The saga around the Homeworld games, some of the best Space Opera RTS ever made, and best games ever made period, is both fascinating and extremely frustrating for gamers.
Homeworld was pretty much -the- Game of the year in 1999 (PC Gamer and IGN), and its sequel (2003) is also highly regarded (I have not played Cataclysm, sequel to HW1, but I hear it is also very good), but the split between Relic and Sierra left the franchise a bit in limbo for a while, and then Relic having been bought by THQ in 2004 the rights to Homeworld went along, with high hopes for a sequel or at least some form of re-masterization. The games were also simply impossible to obtain save for the physical copies still available here and there.

But alas, since 2003, nothing related to Homeworld happened, and then, recently, THQ filed bankrupcy, and none other than Gearbox (of Borderland fame and Aliens Colonial Marines infamy) purchased the rights to the Homeworld franchise for $1.35m.

We now know what is in the cards for the future of Homeworld, and at least for now, it will be re-published digitally (hoped by the fans for a long time), and re-mastered in HD to take advantage of the current high resolutions. It is to be noted that HW's grpahcis (1 and moreso 2) were stunning, and still are today, but the textures are now very much lacking, so it should be a real treat.

No release date for now, but man, I just cannot wait.
