Default True Blood Series Discussion *Use Spoiler Tags*

I noticed there wasn't a thread for True Blood here so I figured I'd get one started....

Synopsis
True Blood is an American television drama series created and produced by Alan Ball. It is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris, detailing the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional, small town in northwestern Louisiana. The series centers on the adventures of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a telepathic waitress with an otherworldly quality.

The Show is currently running it's 6 season and the finale airs next Sunday at 9 on HBO (8/18/2013)

I'm not the biggest fan of this series, but I am looking forward to the season 7 premier tonight.

That thread is 4 years old and thousands of posts long and is labeled season 4. I think it's pretty ridiculous that some of the threads here get that ridiculously long and don't get renamed if the discussion continues to future seasons. Why would I want to read a thread labeled season 4 when tonight is season 7?

I've enjoyed it but like Boardwalk, it has been a series of missed opportunities.

I hope it's not as bad as last season.

Season 6 was much better than 5. That was the worst season.

This show is always trashy fun. But, season 5 was dull.

Can we merge the two threads please?

All I got is my favorite part is when the season 1 episode ended with this song being played:

I don't agree with the use of spoiler tags in a series discussion thread. The entire thread just becomes one big spoiler tag. If you haven't seen the latest episode, then you have no business being in the thread... but I'll use them out of courtesy.

I think that was the worst premiere in the series' history. I don't buy that
[Show spoiler]Tara
is dead. Off-camera death = not really dead. I may not even last the full 10 episodes if they drag the
[Show spoiler]"Where's Eric?"
storyline out beyond a couple of episodes. It's really bad. And I love the show.

According to some reviewers, we see
[Show spoiler]Eric
at the end of episode 2.

Weird to see that no one has posted in here since 2014. I just rewatched the whole series over the last two weeks. I haven’t watched it since it aired. Not my favorite HBO show, but also not my least favorite. I’d be alright with a one season revival like what they’re doing with Dexter.

The last season ruined the show for me... they're doing a reboot, but who knows if it's a a remake or a revival, because "reboot" is a weird blanket term they throw out for everything. If they want to just erase season 7 and pick up from there, I'm ok with that.

Joe Manganiello isn't Happy with How "True Blood" Ended
by Jessica Wang
March 13, 2024

Joe Manganiello's time in Bon Temps left something to be desired.

In a new interview, the "True Blood" actor admitted that he wasn't happy with how the supernatural drama concluded back in 2014. In fact, the abrupt and ignoble death of his fan-favorite character, the hunky werewolf Alcide Herveaux, early in the final season of the HBO show left him eager to make up for it.

"I thought there was so much left on the table for me," Manganiello, 47, said on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show. "The thing about it was they never planned for me to be on the show past one season. I was signed up as a guest star my first season, and when my character really broke and people really loved the character, they were kind of unprepared for that to happen."

He continued: "I wound up on the show for five years in total, but my character had to get out of the way so that Sookie [Anna Paquin] could wind up settling the A and B plots with Bill [Stephen Moyer] and Eric [Alexander Skarsgård], and the only way to get me out of the way was — spoiler alert — you know, to shoot me in the face. I really felt like there was a lot that was left unexplored."

As a result, Manganiello said, "I'm always on the lookout for like a good werewolf script for me because… I feel like there's a lot in me that was unfinished. I have unfinished business in the werewolf department."
