PS3 isnt working... - Blu-ray Forum

Hello,

So a few months back I was playing FIFA 13 on my PS3. Suddenly the game just froze. I reset the system and after start up, the PS3 no longer recognized the game (when I pressed the 'PS' button and went to 'game' no game showed up. I popped out the disc and inserted a BD. Again, nothing. When I insert a BD, I can hear a spinning (very fast spinning..) sound, but nothing. No error or anything, its just as if nothing was in the drive. However when I insert a CD, it works perfectly.

Any ideas on what the problem is? I dont see any yellow light, so I guess safe to say it isn't YLOD (I don't even know what exactly that is LOL). Is my Blu Ray laser dead? Maybe just dirty? Is there any way to fix this? Is there a way to get to the laser to cotton swab it? Honestly, any help what so ever would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a bad Blu-ray laser. Check out YouTube for replacement guides.
