My mate in LA who's done all the Blu-Ray mastering to date posted on his Facebook page that he'd started on Season 5 literally the same day that Season 4 went on sale in the USA.

From his point of view the turnaround time seems to be accellerating.

At this rate I imagine complete 1-7 sets may be available by Q3/4 of 2014.

I'm not sure about that. With The Original Series, the complete boxset was released over a year after Season 3 was released on blu. I'm guessing that they are hoping people will spend more money on the individual Seasons.

So if we get Season 6 March/April 2014 and Season 7 July/August 2014 you might have to wait until summer 2015 for the complete boxset

With the last season available mid-2014, wouldn't they jump on the opportunity to have a comple series set for Christmas 2014 ?

That's insane... How are WOW HD though? Reliable? And for delivery time. Never used them before, apparently they're based in Hong Kong? Sad as it sounds, I'd be concerned about not getting a slip cover if I go with this and not Amazon, heh.

Less than a week to go, can't wait but before someone else mentions it this season has the most upscaled footage clocking in at almost two minutes spread over 2 episodes but at least that means 24 episodes will be 100% HD material.

^^ Yeah, that really isn't an issue for me. It's a little over 2 minutes from over 1100 minutes. I can live with that.

The upscaled footage is from;

The First Duty - 37 seconds
Power Play - 1 minutes 41 seconds

A shame, but in context, I can live with it. Just looking forward to another great season. Season 5 is when I started buying the show on VHS back in the day.

Edit: Also, looks like there's some quality VAM this time around as well - 4 audio commentaries, over 7m worth of bloopers, some more quality docs and a reunion of the show's composers.

All in all, really can't wait for this.

Had my standalone Unification BD sent last Thursday so hoping that will appear anyday now, I know both parts are already in the Season 5 set but the exclusive commentary, doc and deleted scene sold me on it

To think only 2 years ago all we had was a short trailer for the sampler and that was it, by this time next year we should have all 7 seasons and hopefully a sampler or dare I hope Season 1 of DS9

I'd be seriously p1ssed off if we don't get DS9 now. I think we will though, so hopefully a moot point.

My copy of Unification hasn't been dispatched yet, but I can wait. It'll give me something to watch while we wait for season 6!

Still no movement on my TNG Season 5 order with Amazon, why do they always leave it until the last possible minute to send out Monday deliveries yet Tesco will post on a Thursday and it will always arrive on time, sometimes even on the Saturday.

Mine shipped on friday, but still hasn't shown up today.
Every time Amazon ship me something via royal mail it turns up late.

I've started complaining every time now and they keep giving me a month's free extension to my prime membership.

I've mentioned to them several times that couriers show up without an issue, but Royal Mail are consistently bad... All I get back is "We'll take it on board."

Admittedly, for this release I'm not 'desperate' for it on release day as I still have a few other episodes to finish from season 4... but it's the principle: I've paid for release day arrival.

Sorry... rant over... haha!

Ive run into the same thing on a couple of my orders stateside when Amazon ships by USPS or smaller carriers....guaranteed release delivery turns into day after. Its only been literally two occasions but I did pay $80 for Prime for release day delivery, so it is frustrating. Like you, my membership was extended by a month so thats something, but its still frustrating. I mentioned to support to use only UPS as they are perfect, but no response to that

Got home to find my copy of Unification has arrived too

For those that care the spine layout for Season 5 has changed yet again, the Irish rating logo is back and the 'Season Five' text is back to how it was laid out on Seasons 1 and 2 but oddly this layout change is only apparent on the slip, the artwork round the case is in the same style as Season 3.

Oh well the collection is still coming along nicely...
