So, a mod-verified gaffer named Nealand Liquor just posted this interesting tidbit in the TALES FROM MY ASS thread.

Another day and another release date rumour for the PlayStation 4.

This time the date of October 21st comes from a post on NeoGAF, where user Nealand Liquor has posted that the store he works for, which remains unnamed, has received a release schedule pinning that date as release day for Sony’s next gen machine.

This rumour appears to have some weight as that user is mod-verified on GAF, which means that the mods have checked Nealand Liquor out and have seen enough proof that what he posts is information that could indeed be legitimate.

This would mean the PS4 would release before the One, taking advantage of the small time frame to appeal to the mainstream audience. We’re more than likely to get a solid release date for both next gen consoles next week at Gamescom, where both Sony and Microsoft are hosting conferences.

Just so everyone knows all I have is our internal release schedule and nothing more. Nothing is cast in stone and things can change (though they rarely do). To clairify the 21st date means the week of. It could launch on the Monday though.

I know it says revisions have held the console name but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this will be a lower priced Vita possibly a white Vita even. I would love if it was the release date for the PS4 though.

Yes it is likely the PS4.

Not every game retailer is going to get the PS4 on Sony's official release date thanks to E3 & the millions of PS fans who pre-ordered back in May. Way to much traffic.

I have a hard time believing this rumored release date.

Sony has Beyond 2 Souls coming out a week before this on October 8th.

If the PS4 does launch in October I'd put my money on October 28th.

Cool, That would be perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for, and almost expecting. Last week of October, or at least first week of November. I'd be surprised and disappointed if it turned out to be late November, or even into December.

We might just get to play Battlefield 4 And Assassins Creed 4 on day one after all. Of course by that I mean the same day as the current console versions are released.
