Default Today's NY Times ads (6 November)

Two full page ads in today's New York Times: A color ad for Blu-ray from Panasonic and Disney touting Panny's new player and two Disney animated films available today. Also, FYE ran a full-page ad for the "rat" movie touting it's availability today on DVD and BluRay. Hopefully, the Panasonic/Disney ad is just the begining of an advertising blitz for the next two months.

I think we are all going to be very pleased with the amount of advertising we are going to get through the 4th quarter of this year. I'm glad to see these powerhouses starting to flex their muscles and get right in there with all of these awesome tv ads! That new PS3 ad campaign still gets me pumped every time I see it!

Too bad the player does not seem to be actually available yet.

We're obessesed with gimmicks, BOGO's and firesales that have an impact on forums like this, but do not impact the general public like major advertising campaigns.

In the last week I've seen from Disney:

A billboard pushing Ratatouille on DVD and Blu-ray
A Cars on Blu-ray TV ad in HD
A series of Ratatouille TV ads ("and in high-def only on Blu-ray disc")

Yeah, I like that they've stepped up the advertising. Hopefully it'll show dividends.

i picked up a copy of the NYT the ad looks fantastic. it promotes the panny very well as being the first bonus view player. and then two pixar films with a big box of popcorn and a caption that says available on high def today only on blu-ray!
