Distributed by "fce" which should be pronounced feces by everyone reading it since that's exactly what they're releasing here.

There are some really good films on here, but most, if not all, of the films have better, sometimes officially licensed, transfers on DVD or Blu-Ray from more reputable studios that will utilize far better source elements than this set will.

I have no great hopes, but perhaps they'll go the route of Diamond Video, and rip off other studios' superior transfers when available.

It's my understanding that they figured out the copyright status of 'Carnival of Souls' years ago. It might be that FCE doesn't know this and is releasing it illegally.

Personally I hope that Criterion still has the rights to release this on Blu-ray. I know a restoration was done last year and the film has been hitting the art circuit.

I would love to see this in 1080. I watched my Criterion DVD last year and it just didn't cut it for me.

I believe Criterion only has exclusive rights to the director's cut (which is protected by copyright). The theatrical cut is in public domain, so anyone can release it.

Meanwhile, I bet that Shout Factory does The Last Man on Earth sooner or later (if the Vincent Price box sells well).

I have no idea why someone would pay near $20 for this set when you can find nearly the exact same content at the same resolution on DVD, for a measly $5. These are all public domain films.

Eh, for someone who likes horror but doesn't own/want to own a bunch of dvd's this might be worthwhile for a lower price

In SD? IN SD??? Absolutely unacceptable! Why is the BDA not blocking this release? It's not 1080!

You'd probably be better off watching them on YouTube.

It looks like he just had some bad Mexican food, and we're seeing the end results.
