source: Fridaythe13th: film franchise
It was widely speculated that there might be some news on a Friday The 13th sequel today and although there has been no official release by Paramount Pictures, Sean Cunningham was recently interviewed over at FearNet and some information that we were told recently has been revealed. 1. Filming for the Friday The 13th sequel is aiming for Spring 2014 with an early 2015 targeted release date. (Something we have been mentioning to a few fans on Facebook) 2. A television series is still in the works called Friday The 13th: Crystal Lake Chronicles From Sean Cunningham “[I] think there will also be “Friday the 13th: Crystal Lake Chronicles,” which is sort of a “Smallville”,” he reveals. “We’ve been on-again off-again with that for years and there are a bunch of great stories to be told, but I think the way that it’s finally going to get delivered is not through a conventional television network, but through the Internet. I can’t tell you who the delivery people will be, but it won’t be the traditional route. There’s also the possibility of webisodes" 3. A Freddy vs Jason sequel is still in the cards! From Sean Cunningham “I think the chances are good, for a couple of reasons, but I think it will ultimately be a marketing concept. Right now, I think the audience would have to start getting bored with the Friday… movie by itself or the Freddy movie by itself. I don’t think it’s going to happen in the next short period of time. Conceivably in five years.” 4. Lastly, a Friday The 13th video game, finally! From Sean Cunningham "and I think we even have an idea for a terrific Friday the 13th video game.” |

Well, I think after the remake, the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise is officially DEAD. I don't see how they could come back after that horrific film

Agreed. I wouldn't mind 2 parallel series though (original and remake). I'd rather have them alternate between movie continuities rather than make a tv/online series, especially when there isn't much thought put into story in the first place with the F13 films.

I second the winter setting for the sequel. That would be awesome! It's never been done before in the series because of the summer camp deal. I also think Jason should be similar to how he was in the remake, but more ruthless. They should go all out on the gore but not make it too dark. Make it more visible and bright red like in the original films.
