Criterion Nashville (1975) - OUT OF PRINT

http://www.criterion.com/films/28427-nashville

Quote:
This cornerstone of 1970s American moviemaking from Robert Altman is a panoramic view of the country’s political and entertainment landscapes, set in the nation’s music capital. Nashville weaves the stories of twenty-four characters—from country star to wannabe to reporter to waitress—into a cinematic tapestry that is equal parts comedy, tragedy, and musical. Many members of the astonishing cast wrote and performed their own songs live on location, which lends another layer to the film’s quirky authenticity. Altman’s ability to get to the heart of American life via its eccentric byways was never put to better use than in this grand, rollicking triumph, which barrels forward to an unforgettable conclusion
Quote:

New 2K digital film restoration, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on the Blu-ray

New documentary on the making of the film, featuring interviews with actors Keith Carradine, Michael Murphy, Allan Nicholls, and Lily Tomlin; assistant director Alan Rudolph; and screenwriter Joan Tewkesbury

Demos of Carradine singing his songs from the film
Trailer
One Blu-ray and two DVDs, with all format available in both editions

Seems unlikely Criterion will release Altman's Popeye.

One of my all-time favorite Altmans. I've been hoping Criterion would snag the rights to this for years...

I think this is one of the greatest films ever made. Criterion is relentless this fall/winter.

Ronee Blakley is awesome in Nashville. Oddly enough there is NO mention of her on the cast credits Criterion page though her image is on the films page :-)

Most will know Ronee as Nancy's alcoholic mother in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and most recently on BLU from TT's The Driver.

Also love Barbara Harris singing It Dont Worry Me.

There isn't as much traffic as I'd expect for this... is there a reason there's no link when you look up the blu-ray entry for Nashville? I had to do a forum search just to find this.

I know...I only found this thread by accident, I've been waiting for a blu-ray for years and definitely worth the wait, even sweeter knowing that Criterion is doing it to boot!..... And the cover artwork is awesome

Was it because I bumped it?

This is an amazing movie and I can't wait for the Criterion release. I just sold my old Paramount DVD last week in preparation. My wife had to talk to me into selling now instead of later before its value dropped even more. I hope I don't get a craving for watching it between now and then!

And it seems like an amazing video presentation too!

I still haven't forgiven myself for not getting Tokyo Story while it was still in the digipak form.

...that digipak was beautiful.

What makes this one different from the Blu-ray-only version that's already out?

The digipak has 2 dvds. So I imagine this blu-ray only version will be missing some extras?

All the extras in the DVDs are in the Blu-ray too, so it's fine for them to ditch the DVDs.
