Mods ok to close thread once answered.
Hyperdimenion Neptunia mk2 Hyperdimenion Neptunia Victory Got both in mail & noticed right away they are UK versions. I've read PS3 is region free for games but not PSN downloads. (Btw, no DLC for either these games I want) I've read Atlus games on PS3 are not region free. Nis America released these 2 games so are all games region free on PS3 except Atlus games? Thanks. |

False about Atlus. They only have 1 Region-Locked game: Persona 4 Arena. Everything else from them is Region-Free.
All PS3 retail games besides that 1 title are Region-Free. So yes you can play them. But I would recommend getting some of that DLC since they can be quite useful. Also when it comes to DLC and PSN Store downloaded games, you just need to make the right PSN account and buy the DLC and /or game with the right currency by using the right kind of PSN Store card that matches your copy of the game. PS3 is region free for DLC, but DLC usually has to match the region of the game you're buying it for.
I make the distinction because if PS3 wasn't region free for DLC, you could import a game and have no way to get working DLC for it even with access to the foreign PSN store. |

They had to in order to get a release here in the States without waiting like a year to prevent reverse importation back to Japan. They Pay like 10 times what we pay for a game.
P4 Arena was a special case hit while the fire is hot and P4 the golden was rocking on the Vita (as well as any game can rock on the vita) and the Persona franchise was hot in the americans minds so they decided not to do the standard release in Japan now wait 1 year and release in the states as the fad would have passed and sales would have suffered. So they decided to make the game region locked as part of the agreement to be able to release so quickly here. Thanks, T |

Well Atlus Japan just wasn't ready for the game to be localized. So have to figure some way to be able to release it in America while not ruining the sales of the Japanese version because of Japan's higher pricetags on all of their products.
