you have to go to settings then sound and screen then audio output settings and change the priority to bitstream dolby or dts

I did that already. And, all of my games only play in lpcm.

I am in the same boat. I have 7.1 speaker setup, and my first ps4 movie i tried was man of steel. i tried both linear and bitstrem options on the ps4 and my reciever says on pcm in pl2x mode. movie is playing like it is was recorded in mono, lol. i guess i will have to keep playing it on the ps3 until it gets fixed.

While a movie is playing, hit the Options button on your controller then go under Settings. There's an option called Audio Format, under there you can change it from Linear PCM to Bitstream (Direct).

It's also the same place you shut off Dynamic Range Control if you wanted to.

+1

It's a strange spot to have it, as it's not in the standard options menu. Perhaps they'll add it the primary settings in a different patch.

Haven't tried BD yet.

Doesn't the PS4 send Multi-Channel sound via LPCM while watching BDs?

I wouldn't want to change it for games. Resogun & NBA 2K14 so far have blown my hair back. Dunno if they make use of TrueAudio DSP but if I set the PS4 to output bitstream I don't think that extra audio juice would work.

I agree with ya's, PS4 has a lot of Easter egg Dynamic Menu Options.

Weird. I have my system settings and Resogun set to bitstream and while playing Resogun the controller speaker is louder than the game. I cranked sound and music in Resoguns menu.

If you change the setting in Options for BD bitstream playback, it does not have any effect on the linear PCM output setting for games. They work independently.

That does not work, at least for me it did not. I discovered that menu last night but when I set it to Bitstream direct, I got DTS.... When I went to info, it also showed the movie, Grown Ups2, was playing in DTS, when I set it back to PCM, the info menu showed audio being sent as DTS-HD. So it seems broken on PS4.

General comment, why on earth is the PS4 starting to seem a step backward from the PS3... so much functionality missing

Anyhow know how to report the issue to Sony, if you try a customer rep they will have no idea.

I think you may have a configuration issue. It works exactly as described for me. What kind of receiver are you using? I am running HDMI out of the PS4 into a Denon AVR3313CI and when bitstream is selected, DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD engage on the fly exactly as they should.

Really, I hope I am wrong, its a Pioneer SC-25, on PS3 Slim, on Bitstream I got DTS-HD, hmm let me go try another BD. And yes its HDMI.

Yes, this works for me! Hard to believe these aren't in the standard PS4 settings. Now all I need is a darn blu-ray remote and everything will be back to normal.

I just love seeing the DTSHD MasterAudio and Dolby TrueHD show up on my receiver.

Unfortunately this does NOT work for me. When I change to bitstream I get the standard DTS. On the PS3 I get no issues sending the lossless bitstream to my Mcintosh MX150 processor. Tested with Avengers. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

I've got the same problem. But there's a new update coming out tonight so my fingers are crossed that it will fix the problem.

I tried again last night to get this to work with no luck. I have an Onkyo receiver.
