Default Replace Pioneer 5080HD?

I have been thinking lately of making the jump to 1080p and replacing my Pioneer 5080HD plasma. On the used market I do not think it is worth much but thats how it is these days.
I have been happy with this TV for the past 5 years but feel with my viewing distance and tv size (8-10 feet and 50 inch) I am missing out. I have looked at the Panasonic line and hear they are stopping production of plasmas soon. Any advice on what I should do? I realize its a very subjective question....
I kind of feel if I do upgrade I would need to explore the VT or ZT line of Panasonic series and they are fairly pricey. I think this due to black levels of my Kuro that I enjoy so much. We split our viewing habits between BD's and cable tv. I also game and have an Xbox One (unopened) and a PS4 on the way.
The Panasonic ST60 has caught my eye as well.
Thanks

Man, Sorry..... I thought I read your post earlier in the weekend, and was going to respond, but then earlier this week I couldn't find the post.

Being a fellow Pioneer Kuro 5020 owner, I know different model but still along the same lines. I still love my Pioneer still the best picture on the market in my books. HOWEVER we recently decided to update our rec room OLD Toshiba 52" DLP, (bulb blew again) and we jumped at the Panasonic ST60 (55") The reviews were so positive on this unit it made sense. Just finished running the slides (100hrs) punched in D-Nice settings and it looks fabulous. You will not be disappointed.

And getting a 60", really nice, heard they were almost impossible to find up here in Canada. Inventory getting really low for the 60" + screen sizes.

Best of luck and welcome to the club.

Thanks wozman. No worries on not posting. My response wasn't meant to be sarcastic as I moderate a bunch of forums and like when a thread starter continues or completes his own thread.

Yes it was hard to upgrade from the Pioneer but I wanted a bigger screen and I got a decent price for my used 5080. I still have some settings to play with on the ST60 and may get a pro calibration over Xmas as one of the most widely respected guys from New England is in Nova Scotia for the holidays and offered to do my plasma....for a fee of course.

Interested to see the results if I decide to get it done. I couldn't run D-Nice's slides for 100hours as this is our main TV and having a 2 and 4 year old make that impossible
