United Kingdom Edge of Tomorrow Review Thread

Since it was mentioned by Foggy and Toxa in the Oblivion thread, I couldn't find a pre-existing thread for it. Full credit goes to them both.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_You_Need_Is_Kill_(film)

Based on a Japanese light novel, All You Need is Kill is concerned with the story of Lt. Col. Bill Cage and his fight against an alien race known as the Mimics. After his death, he is caught in a time loop in which he must fight and die over and over again.

It's directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity and Mr and Mrs Smith) and stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton.

It's currently scheduled for release on the 7th March 2014 and will be 3D.

Huge Tom Cruise fan so I will definitely be there opening weekend. Story sounds interesting enough as I always enjoy these time loop stories. I can already hear the cries from fans with comparisons to Source Code though.

I'd say it was unlikely, given the fact that it's based off a novel, but that said, they changed 'One Shot' to 'Jack Reacher', so you never know...

Same here. The guy has played a lot of memorable roles in many successful films. I'm really looking forward to this!

I enjoyed 'Oblivion' a lot and I'm hoping to do a double feature with this one. Funny, I thought this was a Universal picture but then realised it's WB. Doesn't matter, but it would have been cool to have them both under the same studio.

The release date got shifted to June 6th, 2014.
Quote:
New Release Dates for 300: Rise of an Empire, All You Need is Kill

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has also shifted the release of Tom Cruise's sci-fi action film All You Need Is Kill to June 6, 2014, with select international markets predating the domestic release, starting the weekend of May 30, 2014. The earlier international release date was specifically chosen to put the opening two weeks ahead of the start of the World Cup.

“We have tremendous confidence in All You Need is Kill and view it as a perfect tent pole for the Summer frame, with its combination of great cast, compelling story and tremendous action," said Fellman.

Directed by Doug Liman, All You Need is Kill is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. It also stars Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton.

Both movies will be distributed in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX.

So basically 300: Rise of An Empire took its slot at Warner Bros. in March.

The target audience for this movie might be staying home:

The demo for this movie may end up in front of the small screen this weekend as it’s Stanley Cup, Game 2 on Saturday night and NBA finals, Game 2 on Sunday.

I enjoyed it, but I kept feeling like they left out a bunch of scenes. Which just made me want MORE of this.

BTW, did anybody else get the feeling that they had filmed a different ending or that they intentionally structured things for a sequel?

No I didnt get that feeling at all. As a matter of fact, I thought it was refreshing to have a movie that felt like a stand alone, instead of a franchise starter

I thought how lean it was, was to it's benefit. It respects the audience a bit more than normal.
