Not trying to be biased, but this show is ALMOST as good as 24. I have the first season on DVD, and I don't want to give anything away on the whole story, but it IS ONE OF THE BEST plots that I've ever seen incorporated into one season's worth of a TV show. It absolutely amazed me as to how they fit an entire 22 episodes in a prison. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are the ABSOULTE best actors that could be made into the lead actors for this show along with the stunning supporting cast that is also in the show. I am not being biased. It IS that good of a show.

I realize that season 2 is not out yet on Blu-ray, but I pray that it is soon. I don't know if you have been able to watch season 3 yet on TV, but it is the WORST season so far out of the three. If you like season 3, you will LOVE THE FIRST TWO.

Absolutely a must buy!!! This is a great drama.

EDIT: Prison Break was nominated for its first award, the 2005 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama. The other nominees in the same category were Commander in Chief and Criminal Minds. Prison Break won the award in January 2006.

While I quoted PS34EVER because I agree with him, this post actually goes out to the OP.

If you're in to super-realistic stuff, PB is not the show for you, but if you like suspense and great drama, S1 is for you!

I was planning on getting PB:S1 on Blu-ray next year, but with some of the deals out there, I might be convinced to get it earlier...

I agree with PS34EVER...if you like what you see on season 3 then you will LOVE season 1!

This is a show that I would definitely buy on Blu to replace my SD version if the reviews are solid enough. I just wish they were a little easier to find with the release date being so close and all....

Prison Break Season 1 is better than anyone season of 24 IMO. I feel like each season is getting weaker though. 24 has started to really go downhill as well. I'm not sure I like that they brought back Almeida as the bad guy...we'll see how it goes, but there's always someone on the inside in 24 and it is just really getting to me. I think the season with Marwon was where it really started to bug me. They kept missing him by seconds and it happened several times. Ok sorry to go off on a tangent.

The best way is to rent it. Netflix has them for rent right now. I just finish disc one and disc two is on the way. Picture and sound quality is nice.
The detail is unbelievable. In close up scene you can actually tell how many grey hair the actor has. Yeah, Rent it and let your eyes and ears be the judge of it.

Yes...it's the best Network show hands down...it beats 24 and Lost. Although Prison Break and Lost appeal to different sides of me so I'd say they are very close, but Lost has better Second and Third seasons imo.

Season 1 is a masterpiece and a definit yes for Blu-Ray pickup... that is if you don't mind losing a little bit of sleep for a week or so (once you start to watch you won't want to stop and it WILL cut into normal sleep hours...).

Season 2 (if it ever comes out on Blu-Ray) I would recommend renting... IMHO Season 2 not only lost the edginess and palpable tension of Season 1, it also is very hard on the brain with so many inconsistencies you just want to throw your remote at the TV and can't help but scream at least twice every episode from the stupidity

Season 3 --> the jury is still out but, so far, it's much better then Season 2. If Season 3 turns out to be on par or close to Season 1 (so far so good), then Season 2 will have only served as a "bridge" to make the story make sense in Season 3... and nothing more.

Season 2 is defined better as "OK, we're on episode 23 of what was supposed to be 13, what the hell do we do now"?

At the end of 13, originally, they escaped and made it to panama, yay.

I hope that they escape isn't a spoiler for a show called "prison break"
