I don't have any cover albums. There are some songs that I really like though.
SRV doing Hendrix' "Voodoo Chile" Hendrix doing Dylans' "All Along The Watchtower" Elvis, Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings & Jessie Colter doing Mark James' "Suspicious Minds" (Excepy for Waylon& Jessie all separately) Neil Young doing Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind" from the live concert "Weld" was awesome! If I think of more, maybe I'll add them. |

I don't know that I have one I can think of. But the Under the Covers series by Susanna Hoff and Matthew Sweet are pretty good.

![]() ![]() ![]() Tough choice between these two (Def Leppard's Yeah! and Collide's These Eyes Before), even though both albums collectively feel like a hit-and-a-miss. I really love Def Leppard's take on "Street Life," "Rock On," and "10538 Overture." There's some serious power behind the whole album and it just plain rocks. However, Collide's version of "Nights in White Satin" hits me pretty hard in the feels (Karin's vocals are phenomenally divine in all these songs). Her covers of "Rock On" (again!), "Come Together," and "Space Oddity" are nice. The only other cover album I can think of right now is Queensryche's Take Cover, which had a few I liked but haven't listened to in years. ICP (hey, don't judge) did a cover album as a bonus--few tracks I liked on that one. Recently started getting into Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes--both these groups do nothing but covers (lounge and punk respectively), and they are a lot of fun. Have some VA albums too, but don't really give them a whole lot of spins. The ABBA Metal album is a lot of silly fun. Same for the Pop Goes Punk series, of which I have one CD (I think). Have some tribute albums for Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Metallica, which are alright. Out of the VA ones though, this one is easily my favorite: ![]() Just about all of these tracks are solid and I can listen to the whole thing without skipping. Particular standouts for me are "Head Like a Hole," "You Give Love a Bad Name" (probably the only Atreyu song I like), and "Digging the Grave." Even though I don't mind the other tracks, I don't listen to them as often as the cover songs from Collide, Def Leppard, or other groups. So I guess I'd call it a three-way tie. I I had to list favorite individual cover songs, it would probably be ginormous--not that I value the covers more than the originals or anything, I just like listening to the whole spread of styles and genres, and I find it interesting when a classic or popular song is reinterpreted in new ways.
