Very cool interview, I knew as soon as I read the comment about Masuda working at another large company in a similar field that he must have come from Pioneer, and sure enough he was there from 97~08 and previously worked on Kuro sets.
Yeah great read, even if the English is a little odd in places it's clear these guys loved what they created with the ZT60. I still have to remain happy with my VT60 though. ![]() |

The 2013 Panasonic ZT60 plasma series was the very first Panasonic plasma model that eliminates the air gap between the pixel layer and the protective glass. For 5 years this air gap elimination feature was only found on the discontinued Pioneer Kuro displays.

Air gapless feature is featured on every display available today that doesnt include a second pane of glass on the front of the panel aka the one sheet of design scheme exclusively from Panasonic....the Panasonic S60 and ST60 feature an air-gapless design as well because they do not have a second sheet of glass on the front panel. THey have one glass panel ontop of the main plasma drive. This is the design assembly of every other display unit. The Pioneer kuro does not have a second sheet of glass design scheme so it does not have a special bonding tech like the ZT60 just as all other displays do not feature a special bonding process....It has a similar construction method as every other display available today even like the low end models from Samsung and Panasonic. Yes. The VT60 has the same plasma panel drive as the ZT60. The ZT60 has that "special bonding" feature and possibly a substantially better light filter. Thats it.

Didnt need the zt for daytime viewing but cool that some folks have the last "best" plasma panel. EDIT: Thanks for the posting the link V Squared, It was an enjoyable and interesting read. I could seriously frame and post the article on my wall.lol |

Yes a much better light filter, Dr. Weber was very impressed with the way it handled light at the HDTV shootout last year @ Value Electronics, he was showing us with his light pen the difference between the ZT and VT and everyone that looked could see it was substantial.
