Sinbad - The 5th Voyage (2014)

Anyone see this yet? I'm going to check it out this afternoon at the theater as I am too curious to wait. It's not in wide release, but the film released this past Friday.

sad to see computers have made people forget how to do convincing stop-motion animation but at least their hearts were in the right place.

If they tried to stick Harryhausen stop motion in a modern day film, it would be laughable. its amazing how people will bash lifelike cgi as so fake looking, but will overlook how completely unconvncing stop motion looks. fine for its time, but that time is looooong past

The greatest thing about the earlier Sinbad films were the stop-motion effects. Sure they look unconvincing, but that's the charm.

This on the other hand, will be a rental.

oh, im not defending this film. I'm just saying that yes, Harryhausen stop motion was fine for those earlier films, but could not be used in a modern film in anything other than an intentionally comedic way.
