Looks really interesting and well-made so I'm going to take a punt on it.

Seth Celluloid Terror in the house. I know you from the facebbok groups. I bought some Redemptions off you before. Was just talking about The Fall yesterday.

Does this stand up to the hype? Someone must have watched it by now.

I've seen 3-4 people not including myself say it is awesome in these threads.

I was wondering the same thing! I'm more interested in whether the film's any good than the signed and numbered packaging.

VERY slow build-up, but it does deliver and when it does

It IS an independent horror and it shows a couple of times, but it don't mind that too much. Even though some actors seem less experienced than in your usual film (even horror) I feel it adds to the charm of the movie (and it makes the ending even more... Nah, won't spoil it for those that hasn't seen it yet ).

Definitely worth the ~$40 I paid and if it helps the director/creator/writer to produce more movies in this style, it's just an added bonus!
Hope it helps!

Regarding hype, I've tried to tone it down a bit when I talk with friends and colleagues about LoT so they don't have too high expectations for the movie. It is good, but you shouldn't go into it expecting it to be the next Evil Dead (original Raimi!)...

That is some kicka** packaging. It will be an expensive blind buy though. I do like what reviews are saying about its old school, slow burn horror approach. Is this truly a good flick?

Hi Lawrie, good to see that you're on this forum and getting involved with the fans. I have to admit that the style of packaging and the effort you've all put into it has to be applauded.
Can I just get a quick clarification from you though. After looking at the picture on your website of the front cover and spine of the release I noticed that the title is upside down compared to the usual way round we have it in the UK. Is that a mistake or on purpose? If on purpose can you assure that all future releases will be the same way round too then as I can see that it's also numbered at the bottom so when all lined up it'd be great for them all to look uniform. Cheers

Thumbs up Lord of Tears

Received my copy of Lord of Tears today(ordered 3/19/14)!

Thanks Lawrie Brewster for the fast shipping, I was not expecting it so soon.

We have a couple of rainy/stormy days coming up, should be the perfect time for me to watch your movie.

When can we expect your next horror epic
[Show spoiler]'THE UNKINDNESS OF RAVENS'?

Watched Lord of Tears last night & liked it, especially the outdoor shots(which I've always thought make a film better)....the locations & the house were beautiful. 'My Cup of Tea'!

The "look" of the film bothered me a bit, as well as the editing.

I know in the special features, there are mentions of Hammer films, The Haunting, and The Innocents, so having the movie in 2.35:1 is not a surprise and not a problem, but the digital photography made everything look a bit flat.

Color and color corrected shots outdoors usually looked okay, but I think many of the scenes could have used color correction filters to add to the atmosphere. (Like in the more recent "The Awakening" with the green/gray outdoors, and brown/sepia indoors, etc)
Hammer films had great color photography to convey the mood, and it seemed like "Lord Of Tears" could have used that. (I know Hammer was a big studio with budgets, so it's a bit unfair to compare, but with digital technology these days, it's much easier than the old school methods)

With the editing, some scenes were a bit "jumpy" in cutting, without much thought into the pacing of the shots. I had no problem with the use of many master shots for dialogue scenes, but at points I wondered why it suddenly cut to another shot. Again, the pacing of cuts in Hammer films are great.

I've never heard of it. Like the look of the LE and now I'm kicking myself for not getting one.
