Just came across this release, an italian blu-ray of Stephen King's first and last directorial effort, with music by AC/DC! Release date April 3rd.

Is this an April Fool's joke?? I see the AR is listed as 16:9 so does that mean we finally throw away our old full screen dvds?? This movie is so terrible in a good way it will be day one for sure!

First the UK gets SUPER MARIO BROS. and now Italy gets MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. Yes, the Apocalypse is upon us!

This is EXCELLENT news. Hopefully, there is a strong lossless audio track on this release.

Ive been waiting for this release diligently for 7 years now, i should be excited, but i dont believe this release is authentic, i'd love to be proved wrong though, but im not holding my breath. Why now? Why Italy? Too strange.

Another italian vendor states "16:9 - 2.35:1" in the specs:

There has been an anamorphic widescreen version on dvd, the R2 dutch release had it, I used to own this but sold it off recently. Also a studio canal release in the netherlands which has the same transfer:

Don't get too excited, Pulp are releasing it who have already released awful versions of Life force etc...hopefully they'll prove me wrong!

I had to watch this again today it looked so good after I tweaked my TV brightness and gamma. Some outdoor shots are still a bit blown, but aside from that, not bad at all. Colors are quite nice.
